They’ll probably need to take the recovering pup on an extended cruise to forget its ordeal.

Honestly, “victims” are getting to be positively shameless...probably a result of Obama’s re-election.

Send your money to St. Jude's Children Hospital instead.

Nothing against dogs....but to ask me to pay for your neglect??

Wow! Coral Springs has public housing now? When we lived in the area, it was a pretty nice place with lots of docs and businessmen residing in some pretty posh places.

Uh Oh!

This looks like the opening for a Stephen King sequel to ‘Pet Sematary’.

Here is my deal. We rescued a dog that was completely neglected- he had been run over, yes RUN OVER and the owners refused to get him medical treatment, preferring to let him lie in the yard until he could move under his own strength. We were offered him and jumped at the chance to take him. He was my father-in-law’s companion untin FIL passed away, really his best friend. Now he is my MIL’s companion and protector. And he was diagnosed yesterday with Stage 4 lymphoma. The same disease, the same stage that took my inlaws youngest son.

So. Treatment is around $4000. And there is no question that we will sell what we need to, sacrifice whatever we need to and we will pay to get him treatment. The day that he is ready to depart will be a hard one but we are trying to adjust to that fact.

Today is just not a good day in my world.

I don't see anything wrong with this. The family is asking for voluntary donations, not forcing others to pay. People can donate here if they want to help:

I’m with you; I don’t have a problem with them asking for voluntary donations rather than demanding public assistance. If they are really going to use the money for the dog, that is.

> “You don’t realize how much you love something or someone or an animal until you think you’re not gonna have it anymore,” he said.

People that love their animals don’t refer to them as possessions that they have or don’t have. The plea is obviously bogus.

Heck - I feel bad for the lady. I’d sell her a brand new puppy for half that.

DO NOT FALL FOR ANY SUCH SCAMS

We give to and support our local animal shelter and do not respond to such pleas from unknown persons.

I totally agree and many vets would take in a pup in a situation like this anyway

Asking for voluntary individual contributions is fine with me. (”But its a heartless shame the federal government doesn’t provide “free” ObamacommieCare for cute little puppies. Its probably those mean, cruel neo-con Republicans who deny this to us. You know, @#+! Bush’s fault. Hopefully its to be included once we finally get a chance to find out what’s in Pelosi’s 2000+ page bill? After all, we voted for Obama so we really do deserve it. ).

My husband died four years ago, leaving me and the kids with no life insurance. I’d like you to VOLUNTARILY donate to me, to provide us with care. Please.

OR, I could struggle on with my own resources, affording what I can, avoiding what I cannot.

Some vets do charity work, my brother and his clinic is one of them but he isn’t in the same state as these people.

Why can’t the animal hospital work something out with the owners; maybe a monthly payment plan? When I had to come up with $1200 for surgery on my late cat years ago, I was offered financing. This sounds bogus to me.

Ok, give the money directly to the hospital, but definitely not to the owners.

I don't have a problem with this, a family truely in need (their house burned down) is ASKING for VOLUNTARY donations from those who feel the need to help them and are in a position to do so.

In fact, I would argue this is EXACTLY how all charity should be handled.

I only have an issue when the government shows up with basically a gun pointed to my head to take my money to give it to them.
