GOOGLE SEARCH: "Te'o Hoax" results in 120,000,000 references. GOOGLE SEARCH: "Obama fake birth certificate" results in 1,750,000 references
Notre Dame star linebacker Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend story is trending around the world. It is a firestorm.
We do not know exactly where this is going, but one of my first observations is marveling at the reporter feeding frenzy - both sports and regular news journalists.
From what I understand, this is a good kid, from a good family, who is an Eagle Scout. He may have been really immature in relationships with the opposite sex, let a story get out of hand, and did not know how to stop it.
Here is what really stands out. This is basically a personal scandal and worldwide humiliation for a naive kid who got caught up in something. There are no dead bodies, no cocaine shipments to Mena, no Swiss bank accounts, no crazy stalker intern getting top secret clearance at the Pentagon, no weapons secretly sent to Mexico and covered up, no perjury, no suborning perjury, no jogger threatening the children of a witness who was about to testify in a civil sexual harassment lawsuit, and no accusations of rape or assault in the Oval Office.
An "internet" girlfriend apparently "died". She supposedly played volleyball at Stanford. But no one checked on an obituary or if she actually went to Stanford?
Look at these journalists going for every detail about a "scandal" that does not affect the economy or national security. Where were journalists regarding something that really did matter ----- the President of the United States, who has hidden everything about his past, presented to the American people a birth certificate that computer experts judged to be a fraud? Where indeed? Maybe we should have put the sports writers on the Obama story. We will soon know much more about a young college athlete than about the President of the United States.
A death certificate of a fake "internet" girlfriend vs. the birth certificate of the leader of the Free World. Which is more important?
Like Rush said, must be a Hawaiian deal.
recall Obama’s “composite girlfriend” from his book ?
hoax and chains!
I had a great in pee-wee hockey after learning Santa isn’t real.
I had a number of imaginary girl-friends during my late high school and early college years.
Those relationships lasted approximately 10-minutes each.
Too funny
Turns out his girlfriend is as imaginary as NDs #1 ranking.
The biggest villain here is ESPN. They eagerly volunteered their services to be the platform for the original story. Yet when they learned the truth in late December, they kept silent.
Great article
Amazing how people seem to care more about a fake girlfriend of a college kid than a fake birth certificate of our president. And, you can be sure there will be the usual PhonyCons attacking those mentioning Obama Birth Certificate......but will milk the phony girlfriend story to no end
His virtual girlfriend died a virtual death. He should be tried for virtual murder.
I mean...really....boys and men making up stories about girlfriends?....who'd have thunk it?
I just watched ESPN First Take, and the Chicago Tribune reporter that interviewed Teo said he believed Teo when he interviewed him. Then went on to say that as he was writing the story he tried to look for her obit but couldnt find it.
Give me an Fn break! He couldnt find it! Are you telling me he never asked Manti where his online gf lived? And this lamestream reporter never investigated the Notre Dame investigators?
I dont know who is telling the truth, but I know who is outright lying; and it is the lying mainstream reporters once again. These guys just dont vet or investigate.
Skip Bayless and Stephan A. Smith had a wild back and forth on this issue today. They never confronted the Trib reporter and never went incredulous on him like I just did.
WOW 10 minutes. Longer than mine
One word: beard.
Chortle!
Now THAT is funny! I’m woindering if they’re going to change the signs on the way out to the field?
10 minutes? Probably more like 2-3 minutes.
