Not long ago I was telling a customer that the product she was testing was from Oregon. The lady, who was probably in her early 70's, shivered when I mentioned Oregon and said she used to live there. I asked her if Oregon was too cold for her. She said, "No I ran away from Oregon to live in Texas." So I said, "Well good. I was reading a news article just this morning about how Texas is thriving with a budget surplus and low unemployment. She replied, "Oh I know, I've lived here for a while now. I ran away from Oregon because there are too many crazies there." (I suspected by crazies she meant leftists but was being circumspect since she did not know me.)
She went on to say she used to live in New York but left to get away from the crazies. She went to Oregon which was fine till the crazies from California started moving there too. "I love Texas," she said. "Save Texas it's the last." I said,"I know just what you mean and I agree with you." And she said again, "I love Texas. Save Texas. It's the last."
I had noticed from the beginning of our exchange that she had a foreign accent. So before she left I asked her where she was from originally. "I am from Russia, she said. "Save Texas. It's the last."
Speaking of Lancers, don't we have a couple of squadrons of them parked at Dyess AFB?
They'd be damn good at cauterizing the proud flesh of the gangrenous parts of the country. Or you could administer the "hands-off" naturopathic remedy my great-greatx-uncle got during the Civil War: Stand back and let the maggots do their thing until either the patient recovers or it's all over.
History books in school dont go far enough. Speaking with people under former rule most certainly does.
That's what's needed, desperately, today! Kids need to hear these stories and realize what is happening...and, that it can happen, again.
From reading comments of other posters, the sharing of your stories would be well timed and most appreciated.
Good suggestions-—I’d vote for ‘em!
“...Now if the California people will keep their kooky ideas to themselves we can all get along.....”
They won’t, and you can’t.
They don’t understand “Live and let Live”. A simple, non-complicated principle that escapes comprehension to the liberal brain.
You’ll have to put a boot in their collective ass and send them back.
Straus-Dewhurst is fully establishment. Cruz is the odd man out in TX.
They did, they have, and they will continue to do so. It's now a reliably liberal bastion, really no different from MN.
It would be nice if it were that easy. Unfortunately, we'll probably have to 'party' with those very states before it's all said and done.
As if we had another place to run to. I'm not willing to abandon my country, so Texas is where I'll make my final stand.
Nonsense. We Texans fully expect our Okie cousins to join us when we snip the umbilical cord to DC.
“One thing I can obviously show you is how to face reality because you arent even willing to do that.”
Your knocking Texas from the state of Michigan is easy to fix - you stay in Michigan and I’ll stay in Texas - there, fixed it. People who come here are looking for the good life in Texas, not to change it. Conservatives from California come here but I doubt many liberals come here due to their hatred of the state.
California has a Republican Party and there are conservatives there and they are coming here. Don't worry about stories you hear of liberals coming here. They hate this state. They can't change the fact that Texas is a right to work state so unions can't take it over. They can't change our constitution and take out the part that says every Texas budget must be balanced - we cannot go into the red.
They can't take away our jobs and can't take away the new oil/gas fields that provide gobs of jobs and mega money the state will have due to those fields/jobs/people purchasing goods. We have no state income tax and they can't change that.
Maybe I’ll learn me some Texas Speak so I can fill out the application real good.
You sure you're an Okie? All true Okies speak fluent Texan.
Thanks for the reply. You have a valid point some people fleeing states like CA can be conservatives. Hell I’m a hardcore conservative in one of the nation’s bluest cities! I will tell you this - I love Texas, I know it’s not my home yet, but one day it will be, and I intend on bringing people there that will be an conservative asset to her.
You sound very much like my dearly departed and his “from the beginning of time” family, lol. And, I do understand. I have chastised my parents repeatedly for not containing their lust for one lousy year and birthing me here. Oh well, one can’t change the past.
I do see a deal in the making for the wild plum jelly..I ain’t too proud to beg.:)
Would you please write them for us? Here or better yet start a new thread and ping me please?
