On Tuesday morning, commentary on the broadcast of the Bowl Championship Series national title game between Alabama and Notre Dame included words like creepy, awkward, uncomfortable and heteronormative.
The subject was not Alabamas 42-14 victory, but comments made during the game by the ESPN play-by-play announcer Brent Musburger regarding the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback A J McCarron. In the first quarter, ESPN showed McCarrons girlfriend, Katherine Webb, who was sitting near his parents. Musburger called the 23-year-old Webb, a former Miss Alabama, a lovely lady and beautiful, and said to his broadcast partner, Kirk Herbstreit, a former quarterback at Ohio State, You quarterbacks get all the good-looking women.

Sure, it’s permissible, but in this particular instance, I just felt sorry for the girl. It came across as creepy to me.
I’m an avid college football fan, so I’m quite used to Musburger. I’m not sure what it was, but THIS time I was uncomfortable when Musburger spoke about the girl’s appearance. It reminded me of creepy Chris Matthews (in a weird sort of way) with his fascination for Obama.
I don’t think I’m usually offended when men notice pretty women. My husband has eyes, and I don’t mind him admiring beautiful women most of the time.
Musburger was different this time...at least it came across that way to me. Sorry if I disagree with others here. It’s not earth-shattering news. Any chance we can agree to hold different opinions on this instance?
Do you remember this from Musberger about “aging hippies”:

Naw. You’ve GOT to be kidding me. That’s lame beyond belief.
at 73 he’s still 100% on target with that assessment
AND he’s proving motivation for millions of boys around the nation... and quite possibly setting into motion the drive needed to bring this country back from the brink
he’s a freaking hero!

97% of the population is heterosexual, but acting as such is to be shunned?

Not a peep about Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper on live TV and the faux-oral sex.

Wasn’t that woman in “The Killing Fields”?
Thank you, sir. I owe you one. ;-)
I don’t know who that young woman is, but it is a shame she lost her skirt.
Shows you how far out of whack "politically correct" has gotten.
I guess being beautiful and being singled out for it is UNACCEPTABLE to the "dim-bulbs" of America.
The best line I heard was that she was on camera longer than the Notre Dame offense.
Wonder what she said of Kathy(nasty mouth)Griffin smacking on Anderson Coopers crotch???
From her looks in the picture she probably said, “Forget Twinkletoes Anderson and come do me!

Beards of a feather flock together?
A Beard in the hand is worth 2 in the bush?
There’s nothing more dangerous to your career in this speech-controlled society than to tell the truth.
Mary Pilon isn't so bad herself. Although, I suspect that, to attain her, it's not necessary to get the football out and throw it around the backyard with Pop
.
LOL! Funny coming from a guy:)
Actually sometimes it’s not cattiness that causes women to be critical of one another. I don’t really know what you’d call it but we do the same to ourselves when we look in the mirror.
Is this the original Boy Named Sue??
Talk about butt ugly! Excuse me while I go puke up my breakfast.
I wouldn’t assume the poster was a woman. We men have some ambiguous feeling about fake boobs ya know. We all appreciate the effort and the effect but no one, man or woman, enjoys being fooled.
As for split ends, that comes from watching 50 years of shampoo commercials.
Commies have to feign outrage over anything a White male says they consider offensive. Football is one of their hates. Why isn’t she offended by SoddomWood?
Pray for America
