NEW YORK (Reuters) - A suburban New York newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals.
Further names and addresses will be added as they become available to a map originally published on December 24 in the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said.
The original map listed thousands of pistol permit holders in suburban Westchester and Rockland counties just north of New York City.
Along with an article entitled "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," the map was compiled in response to the December 14 shooting deaths of 26 children and adults in Newtown, Connecticut, editors of the Gannett Corp.-owned newspaper said.

Pictures of their houses. Car license numbers. Gossip on who’s screwing who. Lots of ways to play their games.
Let's start aggressively and loudly lobbying that permits be required to exercise First Amendment rights, with the same requirements as that state demands for firearm ownership and carry.
In New Jersey you'd have to "prove a need" to speak or worship freely...
Hey, the number still works and they still answer.
Wake me up when they start publishing addresses of illegal gun owners. Not to mention weapons that aren’t guns. I have an extensive collection of knives, some of which may be illegal, who knows? Come on over to my place.
Yes. How do I go about getting my address listed.
It's on the world-wide-web...
This may sound sick, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this newspaper staff are purposely provoking some sort of physical incident, just to say, “See? They are all nuts!! Now can we ban gun ownership?”.
I have a sign as you approach my front and back door that reads:
"The owner of this property is armed. There is nothing inside worth risking your life for."
All my neighbors like the sign and I have no solicitors.
Oh yeah...I really like that idea!!!
How many NY homes have sharp knives in the kitchen?!?
Thanks Libloather.
I thought it was difficult to get a permit in NY.
If this is true it would seem like people who have been denied or haven’t made the effort because they thought it would be hard, now can say so-in-so has one, why can’t I.
Therefore I would anticipate the issuing of new permits to soar.
I’ll tell you this sucks...because there shouldn’t BE any “gun permits” being issued and it shouldn’t be anyone’s business if you have a firearm for protection. Time to push back and start working to repeal gun laws on the books.
pardon my ignorance, but what's a Logo Channel?
Did you tell them they were now honorary members of the NRA and thank them for enrolling in the “Ammo of the Month” club??
I'd be good with it if Hussein played golf everyday with tewo caveats:
1. No wrtiting executive orders on the side and...
2. Hire someone to dress his wife decently and stop embarrassing the nation with the hip hop fashion:
Since carry permits are extremely hard to come by in New York, if I was a burglar, the newspaper gave me a great Christmas gift - a shopping list of where to find guns (and more likely more than just a handgun) which are pretty easy to dispose of on the street for cash.
But let’s take it to the proper side of the street - odds are that quite a few of those handgun owners bought a handgun because of some threat. In browsing some of the names on there, many were in published domestic disputes or victims of crime. Their addresses were not easily available until the newspaper published them on their website.
It’s open season for stalkers, their prey exposed for more harassment, all because people thought ‘gosh, a gun registry can’t be all that bad, right? It’s not like it’s published...’
There is no ‘reasonable accommodation’ with liberals, ever. They’ve been trying to get the guts to do this for decades; look at the way they fought AIDS registries - they didn’t want homosexuals exposed like they intended on exposing gun owners.
