A 27-year-old mother of two has been fatally shot by an off-duty sheriff's deputy after he suspected her of shoplifting at a Houston Walmart.
Harris County Sheriff's deputies have said that victim Shelly Frey, Tisa Andrews and Yolanda Craig were stealing when they were confronted by Louis Campbell a 26-year veteran of the force who works as a security guard at the store.
According to Campbell the women ran to their car and when he rushed to open the door, they accelerated away - at which point he fired the deadly shot into the car which hit Frey in the neck.

Tragically, Frey wasn't even supposed to be at a Walmart that evening.
Earlier in the year she pleaded guilty to stealing shirts and a package of meat from another Walmart and as part of her plea arrangement she agreed to never enter Walmart stores again.

No one can match yours on this thread.
You taught your kids not to run over a cop? They must have been a handful. I never had to give that lesson.
My original opinion was based on the original post. Later posts offered a different take. If those are correct then it is self defense. Let us see how it turns out.
As to who is being racist, since Ozzy won’t answer and you wish to speak for him, you tell me if it is racist to write things in some people’s version of blackspeak.
So far, the responses to my question are to call me a liberal. In other words, the question is being ducked. Cowards and liars run from direct questions.
A racist is someone who sees every aspect of life through the prism of racial consciousness.
To determine if one is a racist would seem to require a great deal more information than a single internet post, or ill-advised joke, or stone-cold honest observation.
To me, the racist is the one who believes one's entire belief system on the races and their inter-relations can be surmised by any single little act.
Someone like that also seems like a simpleton.
Even video 'evidence' isn't really 'evidence' until it's been examined and thought about, and run through a trial.
You keep forgetting that all we have are accusations, and in the end this case could turn out the other way around.
I am not a reporter and I saw shoes in the parking lot. The local news showed a photograph of the shoes and said the cop feared he would be “backed over” when the woman threw her car in reverse and he was caught between the drivers seat and the door.
I have seen nothing in the Chronicle or on the nightly news since this happened. I’ll be sure to tell you if I do.
This will come up in the grand jury if it actually has anything to do with this case.
Since you have mis-defined racism and called me a simpleton it is hard not to laugh. Yes, one can tell a joke about a race and not be racist.
However, when one attributes things based on race while making fun of them, it is racism.
99% of people here are not racist but every large group has some. Do you believe that you never read racist posts here?
The idea that I got was to ‘listen’ to what was reported, you seem to have ‘assumed’ that the cop was out of line and guilty of murder because of your past experiences. I am waiting with an open mind.
What would your assumption be about what laws might apply?
I explained previously that my opinion is based on what has been presented here and in the media. I've served on a grand jury. If what I've read were presented to me as a jury member there is no way I could possibly vote a true bill for murder, manslaughter or reckless homicide against the officer.
You keep forgetting that all we have are accusations
No, there are rational and reasonable questions and explanations. If the accused were not stealing, why did Walmart employees notify security? When the uniformed officer attempted to question them, why did they assault the officer and attempt to escape? Apparently the victim was guilty of criminal trespass prior to the incident.
If we look at the case in Las Vegas at the COSTCO there's an employee who is getting his britches sued off in a civil suit for telling a story to the cops that resulted in the shooting death of a customer ~ you might want to read it.
The evidence trail starts with the store security looking at video images ....... I think somebody is going to look at them eh! The officer's reactions, even if illfounded, may well have been lawful given what the store security people told him However, what they told him may have been total BS.
Since there's a dead body there in the passenger's seat I do believe EVERYTHING is on the table in this one.
BTW, if you want to check out the Erik Scott case, here's a start; >http://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1600&bih=794&sclient=psy-ab&q=las+vegas+costco+shooting+erik+scott&oq=las+vegas+costco+shooting+erik+scott&gs_l=hp.3..0.1587.11129.0.11357.40.38.2.0.0.3.668.6178.10j22j2j1j0j3.38.0.les%3Beqn%2Crate_low%3D0-035%2Crate_high%3D0-035%2Cmin_length%3D2%2Ccconf%3D1-2%2Csecond_pass%3Dfalse%2Cnum_suggestions%3D1%2Cignore_bad_origquery%3Dtrue%2Conetoken%3Dfalse..0.0...1c.1.jwgbZun6ggU&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.1354675689,d.b2U&fp=8c8501555700dc2e&bpcl=39650382
Why can't you get it through your thick skull that my opinion is based on what has been reported and what I've read?
You seem to ignore the reason that the cop was involved in the first place.
We know that the women stole merchandise and hit the cop when he tried to stop them from going out the door and then ran from him when he ran after them. So we have theft, failure to stop and striking an officer. The girls were in pretty much trouble right there.
Here's your problem ~ it is REMARKABLY unusual for cops to run out into (presumably crowded) parking lots and shoot at unarmed women with children.
On the face of it this is a highly unusual case ~ so every single little sniveling trivial fact will be processed with a fine toothed comb over and over.
This case is going to Court TV (Real LIfe TV?). There's drama, pathos, adventure ~ leaping over cops, bounding through parking lots, being dragged while shooting, chillun's jumping and shouting ~ stuffing purses ~ WITH WHAT?
We start this docudrama with the young mother standing before the judge agreeing to never, ever go to a Walmart again ~ OH MY GOODNESS ~ what's not to like about this one ~ within minutes she's slabbed out and some forensic pathologist is trying to see what really killed her!
We could do a series on this ~ just change Galveston to Houston, adjust a couple of other words to fit the rhythm and we have a well structured themesong to go with it ~ try: >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsHUgpSxMoI
How about we add that the cop, while in pursuit, had drawn his weapon and when the driver put the car in reverse and he felt himself being knocked down by the open door, he discharged his weapon accidentally? Does that fit in your drama?
So there are some parallels there, and the third wife wears the same violet/purple lipstick......... drama, drama, drama ~ regular psycho drama!!!
He blacks out at the end of that court scene and wakes up with no shoes and no car ~ BTW, that's judge judy turning these women loose on him!
fellow I know was stripped of everything but a lawn chair and a portable miniature black and white TV in a Chicago divorce court. Said he's never going back to that state ~ won't even transfer at O'hare ~ ol'gal's got some stuff still going on there.
I got a mountain of REAL LIFE material like that for this flashback scene ~ thank goodness none of it my own, but there are guys out there who really get run through the ringer
The cop gets the lead ~ hope that's OK with everyone. He wasn't a pitiful helpless pawn in this story! Thinking of introducing him a bit earlier when he comes in for a break and scarfs down a whole box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts ~ he's talking to some gal in security about how tough it is at the front gate with all these Christmas shoppers and their kids.
Now you call me a coward for not following your red herring of supposed racism? What does black dialect have to do with running down a cop? And whining to other posters about your supposed beef with me is what’s really cowardly. You have insulted other posters and even their children in your attempt to defend a criminal who tried to murder a cop. You’ll never admit you’re a criminal loving POS, but the evidence is plain for everybody to see. Keep it up, keyboard tough guy.
You are attempting to compare an innocent, licensed CCW citizen being gunned down by three cops to a shoplifter killed by a police officer after the car she was in tried to run down the cop? That’s kind of a stretch, is it not?
