A 27-year-old mother of two has been fatally shot by an off-duty sheriff's deputy after he suspected her of shoplifting at a Houston Walmart.
Harris County Sheriff's deputies have said that victim Shelly Frey, Tisa Andrews and Yolanda Craig were stealing when they were confronted by Louis Campbell a 26-year veteran of the force who works as a security guard at the store.
According to Campbell the women ran to their car and when he rushed to open the door, they accelerated away - at which point he fired the deadly shot into the car which hit Frey in the neck.

Tragically, Frey wasn't even supposed to be at a Walmart that evening.
Earlier in the year she pleaded guilty to stealing shirts and a package of meat from another Walmart and as part of her plea arrangement she agreed to never enter Walmart stores again.

You do know that around here a permit isn't required for open or concealed carry.
The uniformed cop did what was perfectly understandable. According to the circumstances as I understand them, I would probably have reacted similarly.
Anybody remember when Woolworth used to have lunch counters and you could pick a balloon and pop it to get the price of the ice cream sundae you bought ?
One in ten balloons had a FREE slip in it...
It isn't pretty, but then, it doesn't try to be.

PLS don’t tell me that’s (was) really a man under all that Bondo and paint... must have had quite a collection of putty trowels at home. Heh.
I've read that in Israel, they are more concerned with people carrying packages on the way in, than on the way out.
Pearl? Only a pimp from a cheap Virginia whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol.

Sir, you do have a way with words. :)
Get over yourself. Nobody should take sarcasm seriously. You sound like the MSM, injecting racism into the comments.
I will say this, though: you need to check the crime stats. As for my personal experience, every time I have been mugged, it has been by a member of her group. How about you?
In the first year or so after Katrina, it seemed like every shooting was either by a NO person or between 2 NO people. I haven’t heard about any of them lately I really thought they were all dead or had gone back home.
I just read in the Houston Chronicle about this incident. The officer opened the drivers side door and the driver put the car in reverse and started backing up. The driver was not shot, the dead woman was a passenger, I am guessing in the front passenger seat. There had already been an altercation at the front door where the officer tried to stop the 3 women and the woman who was shot hit the officer. That is when he followed them out into the parking lot and he grabbed the drivers side door.
She was shot when the car tried to run over the cop, dumbass.
Best movie dialog ever. Too many devastating quotes to mention.
That would be my guess too.

Call me an optimist, but I'm guessing that close to 100% of those who have read this thread agree with you.
In my son's police department, they are required to be armed when in public, at all times, to be unarmed, is grounds for dismissal.
The dopey cop put himself in that danger by trying to enter a moving vehicle. Like the original poster said, he should have taken down the licence plate number, but most cops would rather look for an excuse to shoot someone than do something useful.
Hell, I think making bad choices often result in bad things happening. For that I get called a damnable Islamist? What is going on here.
“I am in Houston and I saw this on our local news last night. They said the officer was being dragged by the car and feared he was going to go under it and be run over. They showed a photo of his shoes in the parking lot where he was pulled out of them.”
I had a feeling that was the case. He didn’t want to die.
Remember the stripper who lied about the Duke students. She had tried to run over a cop prior to that incident. She got off on that one. After the Duke case she was arrested for beating up her boyfriend and now she is charged with killing her boyfriend. Her family said she was a good person too.
Probably a Facebook photo. I’m noticing that online news sources go there first these days.
1) You stole from my kin! 2) Who was fixin’ to betray us! 1) Well, you didn’t know that at the time! 2) So I borrowed it until I did know! 1) That don’t make no sense! 2) It’s a great fool who looks for logic within the chambers of the human heart.
