Have you been enjoying your Thanksgiving turkey leftovers? Do you have a preference for the white meat? If you do, then racism could explain why you prefer the white meat to the dark meat.
In an article worthy of The Onion but published in all seriousness in Slate, writer Ron Rosenbaum plumbs the depths of absolute ridiculousness to explain his white meat racism theory. First he details why white meat is supposedly so horrible:

Has got to be satire.
Ounce for ounce, white turkey breast meat trumps dark meat, calorically speaking. Per 3 ounces, opting for white meat over dark will save you 45 calories and 6 grams of saturated fat: 115 calories and 0 grams of saturated fat versus 160 calories and 2 grams of saturated fat, respectively. Both white and dark meat are a good source of protein, offering 26 and 24 grams per serving, respectively. Dark meat does, however, have at least one nutritional advantage over white meatit delivers more iron (11% of the daily value, compared to 7% in turkey breast).

or “red” dawn currently running in our white house
or black humor?
I’m as white and pale as they come and I like dark meat. What does that make me?
For anyone w/gout, white meat is less likely to trigger an attack. Brining the turkey leaves the white meat moist.
I agree this must be satire.
I prefer dark, it tastes better.............
If this is true, then people who like white turkey meat should flee from a nice Kansas style steak, with the charred exterior.
I’m not witnessing that exodus.
I tried dark meat once, but I never went back to it.
The author didn’t mean it as satire but I am predicting that he will PRETEND that it is satire after he is widely mocked for his article. The same thing happened to Sheryl Crowe after she suggested that people use just ONE square of toilet paper and after she was laughed at for the suggestion, she claimed she was just kidding.
It means you are full of self-loathing and seething with hatred.
or something like that
you subconsciously want Obama to succeed.
This is white noise that should be thrown into a black hole.
I much prefer dark meat and dark chocolate
“So what does it mean if you prefer white chocolate?”
You’re not only racist, you have bad taste.
BTW, I prefer dark meet, although I’m white. This probably means that I am a self-hating white person steeped in racial guilt.
Other conundrum: my daughter likes the gizzard the best. Does this mean she is post-racial?
I like my turkey plate well-integrated, but that’s only because I’m so broad minded.

Any sort of dark meat is richer, fattier and has a stronger flavor. It’s usually best in soups, stews and casseroles. Breast meat is white meat, it’s more readily accessible, you can carve slice of it and it looks prettier on the plate. It’s also more of an effort to keep white meat from being dry, brining and such.
If I’m eating it off the bird or in boneless filets, white meat is best. If it’s used with something else, dark meat works better. It’s a tradeoff.
Whoever wrote this is looking to generate hits with an off the wall, cockeyed speculation that has nothing to do with anything. Are people who prefer vanilla ice cream racist, lol?
Racism? What’s that? I swear I’ve heard that word before, but it has no meaning to me...seems to have a calming effect though.
Hey, this feels pretty good. They might as well have said ‘love’, it caresses me so.
(How was that?)
