White House says did not heavily edit talking points on Benghazi

(Reuters) - The White House did not heavily alter talking points about the attacks on a U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya, an official said on Saturday.

"If there were adjustments made to them within the intelligence community, that's common, and that's something they would have done themselves," Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser, told reporters. "The only edit ... made by the White House was the factual edit as to how to refer to the facility."

After a closed-door hearing with former CIA Director David Petraeus on Friday, Republican Representative Peter King said that unclassified talking points prepared by the CIA for use by lawmakers about the September 11 attack where the U.S. ambassador to Libya was killed originally pointed specifically to al Qaeda involvement.

It looks like this was the plan all along — Patreaus was sent over to CIA to do a job, the script was written, the actors chosen, the stage set and mission accomplished. The only problem is — what's the real story here. I think I know.

The intelligence community rewrite the narrative and submit. I disagree - the fact that there was a cover story and talking points is minor.

The real story is that Obama failed to properly protect the Americans in Benghazi.

That's true. But exposing the person who pushed the cover story will ultimately lead us to Obama. It's obvious that he gave the order to hide the role of Al Qaida. If that can be established, we will then have partially established his motivation for failing to defend the ambassador. This terrorist act was an embarrassment to his Libyan "velvet" revolution strategy.
