Thanks for the ping. A prayer for everyone involved.
This is strange. How the heck did this happen?!
God bless all involved and God bless and protect our troops from enemies, foreign and domestic.
Oh no!! Prayers for all involved and the families and friends of those deceased. This is just terrible.

Someone or more than one were not paying attention for something like this to happen.
Thanks for the update LuvW. Saw this on your FB page earlier. Very tragic.
Prayers for Our Heroes.
This is terrible.
I join in earnest prayer for our heroes and others suffering in this tragic accident.
It’s indeed unfortunate, but you nailed it.
Baring some explanation that the truck was somehow snagged on the tracks, which is very doubtful, this truck should not have stopped on the tracks.
If it couldn’t fit on the other side, it should have stopped before crossing the tracks.
If other people are trusting you with their lives, it is vitally important you be thinking every moment on the job you have been tasked with.
This is just tragic. And it’s even more-so because it should never have happened.
In many parts of Texas, you can see a train coming from a great distance. I’m not sure about this exact crossing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could.
Someone said they couldn’t hear the train because of the police sirens.
Oh boy. If that is accurate, I guess lawsuits would follow?
Horrible! Bless them all.
That still doesn’t fly.
Train crossings are rather simple really.
When you’re transporting a number of people, you make a complete stop before attempting a crossing.
Before crossing, you look both directions.
If you can go all the way across, it’s okay to do so.
If you can’t, you stop on the near side.
You can be totally deaf and still cross tracks safely.
I’m not saying this out of anger. I’m just sad this happened. Talking about the things to think of, may help someone else some day.
Thanks to all of you who have or who will express their sorrow and support in light of this tragedy. It will take a long time to sort it out, and I know, without actually knowing them, that all the people involved with the wonderful program, Hunt for Heroes, are overwhelmed with heavy hearts. The local Patriot Guards are having a prayer circle at a local hotel tomorrow morning, and the blood banks at the hospitals have been overwhelmed with donors wanting to help in any way they can.
We love the troops here in West Texas.
A very sad ping. We are all shocked. Please offer your prayers. Thanks.
I have had some questions, too. This crossing is in downtown Midland and there are many very tall buildings in the general area, though, I don’t think right there. In other words, it wasn’t out in the “wide open spaces”. Also, parts of Midland had been having their electricity out, and some speculated that this might have caused the gate not to work like it was supposed to. One witness said it came down and then popped right back up.
The very first thing I asked myself, and I am not taking away from the extreme heartache and sorrow everyone involved is feeling...is...why on EARTH would a parade even cross a train track in the first place? I feel bad even second-guessing, but there ARE lots of unanswered questions...
Continue to pray for all involved. They are in extreme pain, either bodily or in the heart.

Local news just said the the lights and gate were working at this Garfield intersection.
Yep, just sad all around.
I guess float #2 just followed float #1 over the crossing without looking.
