Sorry for the vanity; especially the vanity in Breaking News; however, I thought this important enough that it should receive high visibility.
I have reason to believe that some Staff Judge Advocates and Special Security Officers are looking into the secession petitions at whitehouse.gov
From what I have heard if you are on Active Duty and sign a secession petition, you will be pursued as being in violation of your contract.
SSOs are screening the lists too; you can potentially say goodbye to your security clearance.
Don't do this to be a smart ass, funny, or cute. Understand the gravity of what you are putting your name to.
By all means if you wish to declare yourself at odds with the U.S. Government, and feel strongly enough feel free to do so. However, if you are unhappy with the election, deployment cycles, just think it is all a joke that won't be taken seriously - think again.
Don't ruin everything you worked for and fought for over something so trivial as an online petition...........there are biographers that are Reservist West Point grads for that.
I hope the irony of this is not lost on FReepers as we post about it. Look at Obozo's appointments to the highest security positions in our nation. How many of these A$$HATS should be trusted with our secrets? Eric Holder? Really?
Bite me! I spent 23 years in the Marine Corps and sent 2 sons to Iraq and Afghanistan. They did 2 tours each. Who the hell are you to tell me to choose a side? This secession crap is madness. Breaking up the Union is not the answer nor will it ever be. Fix it from the inside. Tearing apart the US will not fix a damn thing!
>>I sign everything, “freedumb2003”
They’ll never catch me. lol<<
And I have never been so revered on the Interwebz (I am sure — right???)
:)
Interesting that the Obama administration would have these petitions on the WH website. My first thought is they're looking to flush out Patriots in order to "purge" them. (not kill them but revoke their clearances, expel them from the military, etc.)
Why else would they seek this? I don't get it.
And why now? Were they there before the election?
The website is a joke. It is a pretense to make it look like they are listening. Most all of the so-called petitions are jokes, including the one I put on there. I If we are at the point of fearing airing our views, I’d just as soon be put in front of a firing squad.
While I have already left the USSA, I would be concerned
about the social security benefits that I receive, if I were caught participating in a secession movement.
Hey, I’m a believer that when your time is up...it’s up.
....but I don’t go jumping in fromt of trucks.
PS, the rules are different now, especially the Bill of Rights. You and I may not like it, but it’s the truth.
Of course, don’t jump in front of a truck, but each of us chooses our risks. For me, if we get to the point where we are afraid to speak, again as private citizens—not military, then life really won’t be worth living IMO.
Yep, I have a security clearance, and I signed the petition. These petitions are meant as a statement to the dolts in DC, telling them that a lot of people do not agree with everything they do. If they don't like what they see, F'm!
If you think that some petty bureaucrat can cause the problems that you mentioned, then the nation is already too far gone.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Hmmmmm, the local democrat politburo members want to secede.... how...interesting....
LOL
In that case there will be 100,000 Texans on it.
That’s how many have signed it.
Molon Labe
Oh please. Advocating the secession of a state is not the same as advocating the overthrow of the US. The latter is what will get your clearance pulled or not renewed.
Now to the wisdom on signing your name on a petition on a White Hut petition form advocating secession is probably suspect. Can you say “Enemies List”?
Not a very exclusive list. I wonder how many times the names Barry Soetoro, Barry Dunham, BH 0bama have been added to the lists?
Overthrowing the govt is not the same as leaving the govt.
Plus how would they know if it was the real name.
I could put down any name.
They would have to go to a lot of trouble finding out who really signed it.
Like I said in my previous post, they’d have to find those 100,000 Texans that signed their secession petition.
If we live in a country where people must be afraid to sign a petition, is there much left to defend?
Thank you, Sean.
That’s the most sensible thing I’ve read today.
I'm sure the creepy little totalitarians are working on it - and their boys in the MSM will come up with crap on why the death of free speech is good...
“Yeah....that freedom of speech thing.....”
Fomenting insurrection is not a speech issue. Do what you need to do, but do it with open eyes and don’t pretend that you have a constitutional right to it. Our founders understood that they were under a death sentence for their rebellion. The least we can do is not lie to ourselves about what we are discussing here. Here’s what the US code says about it:
“Sec. 2383. Rebellion or insurrection
Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”
Excellent advice.
