Sen. John McCain is calling for establishment of a Watergate-style congressional committee to investigate the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
The Arizona Republican tells "CBS This Morning" he believes the unanswered questions surrounding events at Benghazi on Sept. 11 require such a select committee.
McCain accused the Obama administration of making misleading statements. He also said U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice went on national television and said incorrectly that the violence was the result of a demonstration against an anti-Muslim movie made in the United States. Asked if he'd stand in the way of any nomination of Rice as the next secretary of state, McCain replied, "She's not qualified."
He said Rice spoke "in defiance" of the facts in the case.

McCain is angling for the 2016 nomination.
McLame was one of the most vocal proponents for going into Libya in the first place.
Harry Reid will get right on this.
He’s the right guy to take on the corruption of the Obamanation. McCain is the former darling of the LIB press whore (which confuses them) and he has nothing to prove at this point. If McCain is serious about this, he can be a guided missile.

No, I don’t think so, because even he knows there’s not a chance in a million that he’d get the nomination again. I think he actually may have had a flicker of conscience, and he’s doing this precisely because he knows he has nothing left to lose. He’s not going to be the GOP presidential candidate again, it’s possible that he may not win his seat again or may retire, and I think perhaps he is really concerned about what Obama is doing.
What we really need is somebody with nothing left to lose, because believe me, anybody who opposes Obama is probably going to lose it all.
The Senate will whitewash this after a few days, and only the House GOP will investigate. The media will portray the investigation as a partisan witch hunt.
Good points, I agree.
A) I was joking. McCain is clearly too old to consider running for president in 2016. I know he's not thinking about that.
B) I believe that McCain is positioning himself for a future cave-in which will knock the legs out from under any Republican effort to damage Obama on this. At just the right time, McCain will make a deal and defend Obama when Obama needs it most. This is McCain's MO. He plays for the other side. I believe this 100%.
Started before the election, Nixon won anyway, but it never let up.
Let the drip-drip-dripping begin.
Caveat: 0bama never suffered any repercussions for warring in Libya without consent of Congress.. Except for Benghazi, of course. Now he’ll ‘walk’ for that too..
I’m hoping McCain is doing this for the same reasons he always gave Bush a hard time — to feel powerful. No conscience or conviction. This will ensure that he pursues it to the end.
I was just very shocked to see NBC News covering this in their nightly report. Pretty truthfully too. That McCain is calling for watergate style hearings. I almost fell off my chair.
Any one who goes against this regime is ok with me.
However,
I am having difficulty integrating the Mccain as guided missle into my thought process.
The difference is that the media is on Obama’s side. They were not on Nixon’s side.
