President Obama has been re-elected with strong Latino support

Latinos delivered. A record 75 percent of Latinos voted for President Barack Obama, and only 23 percent voted for Romney, according to Latino Decisions exit polls . In 2008, the president won 67 percent of the Hispanic vote while his Republican opponent Sen. John McCain won 31 percent, that’s an 8 percent gain for Obama.

In the battleground state of Colorado, 87 percent of Latinos voted for Obama, while only 10 percent voted for Romney. In Ohio, 82 percent of Latinos voted for President Obama.

In Massachusetts, Latinos came out to vote overwhelmingly for Obama with 89 percent, and just 9 percent for Romney. Latino support here had implications in the white-knuckled, close Massachusetts Senate race. “Latinos are an estimated 6 to 7 percent of all voters in Massachusetts and the impreMedia-Latino Decisions data shows Latinos overwhelmingly supported Elizabeth Warren by a record margin, 86 percent for Elizabeth Warren to 14 percent for Brown and the Latino vote is what decisively put Warren over the top,” says Latino Decisions political scientist Matt Barreto.

New Mexico went blue in this election, with 77 percent of Latinos voting for Obama and 21 percent for Romney.

Latinos overwhelmingly said jobs and the economy as well as immigration were top issues for them. ”Obama’s re-election marks a new beginning for politics, in a year where non-minority states went overwhelmingly for Romney and still lost, the era of extremism is knocking on death’s door. The GOP in states like Arizona and Texas should heed this message well or follow the pathway to irrelevance that is the South,” says Stephen Nuño, political science professor at Northern Arizona University and an NBC Latino contributor.

“The enthusiasm of Latino voters in this election reflects not only support for Obama and his policies, but dislike for the policies of Romney and the GOP,” says Cristina Beltran, a professor of cultural and social analysis at New York University.

Ranting about some little wrinkle in “free stuff” that causes the Church to have to give out “more free stuff” isn’t going to be a winning argument against “more free stuff.”

Since Vatican II, the Church’s doctrine and epistemology has been about picking the pockets of the productive to give it to the poor, stupid and prolific procreators. It has been Church doctrine - the “social justice” twaddle. They’ve been preaching that to the pews for 40 years. A little recent development about forcing the Church to pay for condoms and birth control pills isn’t going to overcome 40 years of preaching about the “justice” in getting free stuff.

Oh, and BTW, let us not forget that the Church wants to open the floodgates to yet more illegals in the US. They know full well what they’re advocating.

Well, the numbers tonight prove me right in my condemnation of the Church and papists. They will be what brings down the US. The Church was the reason why my ancestors left Europe. Sadly, it seems my kind of productive protestant can’t escape the shiftless grifters.

In Iowa, you also need to factor in the face-down, bawling, pounding-on-the-floor “tantrum” that the radical Evangelicals have every time one of their chosen doesn’t make it through the primaries.

“If WE can’t have the election...NO ONE CAN!”

They consider this line of thinking highly logical, by the way.

Yep.I had an Hispanic woman on Twitter explain to me that she’s been oppressed as a minority and Obama is just like her, he understands and will look out for her. Her words: “no more am I lower-class citizen, he know me and care for me”. She is apparently unmarried, with a child. Reading her tweets, she belongs to a big network of like-minded Hispanic women.

How should GOP deal with the takers of society, who believe a dark-skinned man will take care of them b/c he is “dark” like them?

I don’t know how we undo that kind of thinking.

We are so screwed, now the GOP has no choice but to kowtow to the minorities, the white male is dead politically.

Operation Wetback 2.0!

“Obama’s campaign was a triumph of micro-targetted negative advertising.”

A negative campaign trumped a positive one. It energized their base with fear.

Clearly, the Democrats were clever to sell Obama as ‘beyond race’ and then once in know that he would win with the racial demographics.

The Catholic Church has been railing against much more than the HHS Mandate. The Church also has always held strong positions that are pro-life and pro-marriage. On Sundays, we typically hear about those issues, whenever politics is the topic.

As for "social justice," they encourage giving to Catholic charities. I have never heard anything in favor of government social programs at church.

However, the Church does seem to advocate an open border policy (if I've understood their position correctly, that is) - so I agree with that part of your statement. But that issue is not as important to the Church as the other issues, on which they take a position more in line with the Republican party.

Bottom line: Catholics who vote Dem probably aren't doing so because they're Catholic; they just happen to be Catholic, and there's another reason they're voting Dem.

Sadly, it seems my kind of productive protestant can’t escape the shiftless grifters.

I've been to many protestant churches of various denominations, and the talk is pretty much the same as what I hear at the Catholic church.

It’s not the question only of the “white man” as “opposed” to the latino.
A wise conservative man should know how to talk to the SANE PART of latinos !
Or you , and the free civilization founded on our main values ,and we , are done....That’s the path to socialism, demagoguery , corruption , tyrany....Look at south America

Catholic bishops have pissed off King Barry enough that it won't be looked on as a major factor much longer.

As that article makes clear, there's no such thing as "the Catholic Vote" any more. The majority of Catholics go to church now and then or never but still claim to be Catholic. This year is probably like 2008 when a little over half of them prove that they in reality worship government and keep Christ and His Church on the shelf as part of their "ethnic identity" or a family tradition. As a result, you can bet King Barry will be making an example of the Catholic Church to show other loudmouths what will happen when you dare to preach as the Truth anything that contradicts government policy.

By the time the next election rolls around the democrat fascists will have made "Catholic" into such slur that over half of those who now claim to be Catholic won't be doing so anymore no matter what they think of family traditions or “ethnic identity”.

As a result, all those fine state worshiping fools who now claim to be Catholic but who ignore Catholic teaching will be spread among the tens of thousands of different denominations in the country. They'll probably mostly end up in denominations that ordain queers and marry queers one to another, but you never know, there are an awful lot of Evangelicals I know who still think Jimmy Cater is a good Christian who just got a few bad breaks.

The latinos don’t realize it yet, but welcome to North Mexico.

There is another alternative which is far more likely.

The ultimate fate of all Balkanized countries, is, the Balkans.

Exactly. Look at South America.

A solid block of Catholics from Rio Grande to Tierra del Fuego.

And a solid block of corruption and economic basket cases.

Just the way the Church likes it.

Same deal with the spendthrift nations that surround the Med in Europe.

There was a reason why intelligent protestants left Europe and Catholic hegemony behind.

Many of us said, this was the tipping point.. and we`ve tipped over. With 75% of the fastest growing demographic enthusiastically supporting the dems, we will never see a conservative in the White House again. Ever.
