This site has been a frustrating disaster for the last week. What the he'll is going on? I can't get the page to load but 1 of 4 attempts. I'm about to give up, and I've been a member since 1998.
Please tell me this will be fixed before Tuesday!!
Once FReepers are employed again, hopefully, things can get moving again

I can barely connect from work in the past week, and I only lurk from there.

Didn't know that was the case... just recently read that JimRob said JohnRob wasn't even talking to him. Sad.
I would think a donation of professional talent would go a heck of a lot further toward fixing this dying website than throwing dollars at it.
I have four Browsers on my PC (IE 8, Firefox 15.0.1, Google Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m & Safari 5.05)
It seems that GC 22.0.1229.94 m is working best with FR right now, but still slow and I have a fast PC and a fast connection. (15 MBPS+)

Where in Arizona? I’m down in Cochise County. Some times FR can drive me CRAZY having to hit F5.

Yeah, that would be nice. Had been employed 30 straight years out of college until recently. Would still donate if I thought it would help, but looks like Election Day will be mostly a no-go for me on FR.
I have to tell you that I’m having the same problems. I’m addicted to FR and hate when it is real slow and I have to hit “refresh” often, in order to get the page to appear. Takes so long then that I keep going to the kitchen for a snack and hope it’ll be there when I get back. I’m getting fatter by the day . . . :^(
Either FR is going to have to go to a pay site (your suggestion), which is not a bad idea or it’s gonna have to start accepting ads. I think this latest stretch of problems has proved that $85K per quarter is not enough to fix this problem.

Jim needs to do both. Until he does, we’re just going to have to live without FR on big news days, like when there’s a debate or an election or ...
Get the Dragon Mental Projection Program. Attach a few small wires to the cortex from your computer and simply think the message and skip all the servers and error messages.
There is an FR group on Facebook, if you have Facebook and other back-up sites too
