Americas heart, soul, brains and muscle the middle- and working-class people who make this nation great have been beset for too long by sapping economic decline.
So, too, New York breadwinners and families.
~snip~
Revival of the U.S. as a land of opportunity and upward mobility is the central challenge facing the next President. The question for Americans: Who is more likely to accomplish the mission Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?
Four years ago, the Daily News endorsed Obama, seeing a historic figure whose intelligence, political skills and empathy with common folk positioned him to build on the small practical experience he would bring to the worlds toughest job. We valued Obamas pledge to govern with bold pragmatism and bipartisanship.
The hopes of those days went unfulfilled.

These endorsements are interesting. If Mitt delivers what they hope he will in the next four years he should maintain their support as regards op-eds etc. Maybe help turn New York around in 2016?

I love the Post. Same here...it's come a long way from the liberal era of the Dorothy Schiff days decades ago. The headlines alone make the Post a good read:

I’m stunned too. In the previous months the political coverage of the campaign by the ny daily news has been strictly pro obama and anti romney. I thought for sure they would be endorsing obama.

I’m stunned that after Bengazi that anyone would endorse and vote for zero - except for the cell phone screeching person and her ilk.

I had not heard of the Newsday endorsement. The Daily Snooze endorsement is a surprise, but Newsday is a stunner. I guess they see the angry mobs crashing through their circulation numbers which are already way down. Newsday endorses R &R: all I can say is WoW!

I’ve heard so many newspapers and people say about the same thing. Maybe it shouldn’t, but it really amazes me that so many people go snoockered in the first place. Anyone looking at Obama objectively should have seen that he was all hype and, with a paper thin track record, almost no substance. Of course, it didn’t help that O was running against John McCain, who ranks up there with Bob Dole as one of the weakest Presidential candidates ever.

Now that you mention that “empty chair”, I can’t help but think Clint Eastwood set off a term for the GOP regarding Obama that put the Romney camp, and republican voters on the right track to defeating The Won.
He deserves a lot of credit this go ‘round.

You mentioned Eastwood. I had a robo-call from him Friday urging a vote for Mitt. His voice was blanketing Florida. One of the few robo-calls I actually enjoyed, LOL.
He made my day !
