Since about the beginning of President Obama's tenure, the Gallup poll has generally been one of the least positive polls for the Democratic party. This has prompted outrage and pressure from the left--even from presidential advisor David Axelrod.
Over the summer Mark Blumenthal of Huffington Post wrote a critique of Gallup's daily presidential job approval poll. The point of which was that Gallup was over-sampling whites and thus understating President Obama's position in the adult population. I responded by arguing that Blumenthal's case was underdeveloped and less-than-met-the-eye, and that was basically where things stood. Until, that is, this week. President Obama enjoyed a bounce in his Gallup job approval number after the Democratic National Convention, as was to be expected, but there was a twist: it did not disappear. And while Gallup on average had found Obama's job approval around 47 percent with adults through most of 2012, for the last five weeks it has been regularly above 50 percent.
Yesterday, it stood at 53 percent, a number we have not really seen since 2009.
Unusual. So, what's going on? Alan Abramowitz of Huffington Post and The Democratic Strategist noticed that Gallup has increased its share of nonwhites from 27 percent the week of the convention to 32 percent last week, a nearly 20 percent boost. In other words, Gallup seemed to have tweaked its methodology with just weeks to go until Election Day to reflect the criticism that has come from the left.

This is about as bad as it gets, polling wise, although Gallup can claim that there is a great debate among psephologists and pollsters just how much sampling should be done via cell phone and how much via land lines

Don’t they know about Obamaphone? They could include lots of folks on fool stamps that way. Everybody in Cleveland has one.
Then when we ignore the call and it rolls to voice mail, there will be even MORE that will count for Obama!

Why are we obsessing about polls?
We now have actual, real-world data in the form of absentee-ballot requests by party affiliation, for example, in the critical state of Ohio. The Ohio data clearly shows a substantial increase, county by county, in the number of Republicans seeking absentee ballots vs. Democrats compared to 2008.
So whose data are we going to believe — that of 88 Ohio county election officials who cannot be punished by Obama’s Justice Department or IRS operatives, or the Gallup organization, which can be so punished if the Obama administration doesn’t like its figures?
The end purpose of the democrat whining is to co-opt the polls, to use them to present Obama as a winner, Romney as a loser - to influence voters to think Obama's victory is a foregone conclusion.
By allowing the democrats to influence their polling methodology (and of course, the results), they allow themselves to become just another part of the democrat propaganda machine.

Obama has had to do very little in his life to get where he is- much of what he has is due to his greasy propaganda minister's efforts (Axelrod made millions Astro-turfing, after all). They know their crude, alien views are in the minority in America- so they have to constantly manufacture appearances that they are in the majority.
The Wisconsin protests, the effort to take down Rush's advertisers, Occupy Wall Street, and on and on- it's all part of the same fabric. (And every time they have failed because at the root of it, the radical leftists are a bunch of piggish opportunists who don't care one iota for others beyond their cartoonish views of "fairness").

I'd guess that 90% of those that got free cells phones from 0bama are leftists, so this further skews any polls.
