Mitt Romney’s secret is out, thanks to a milkman in Boston. When the now Republican presidential candidate toured a Veterans Administration hospital while in a political race against Ted Kennedy, he discovered an awful truth: The facility could not afford enough dairy products for the sick soldiers. After reviewing the medical center’s books and noting that the facility appears to be run well, he asked what they needed help with or might be lacking. The quickly uttered response consisted of one simple word: milk.

When Friday rolled around, so did the local milkman and 7 thousand pints of the dairy product. The delivery guy kept his word to Mitt Romney and refused to reveal the name of the anonymous donor to VA officials. Two years later and just days from retirement, the delivery man finally shared his secret with hospital staffers.

There’s that Romney...showing off again. He probably did that with the Presidential election in mind. You know...like paying more taxes and giving all that money to charity.

I forgot to include that the milk deliveries continued weekly for two years until Romney straightened out the budget when he was governor.

Well.... other politicians have written off donations.... like Bill and Hillary who wrote off Bill's stained underwear.

In the MSM no good deed comes without punishment, expect to see some “genuine vets” with lactose intolerance before the end of the day bitching about the milk Romney helped supply...

It will all be “planned” or “written off” or it will be terrible Romney is forcing vets to drink milk.

They see what they want to see.

I went and read Palin’s original comments on AL-Russia the other day. She said, “You can actually see Russia from Alaska”. You would not believe from the lib comments how they denigrated that, from twisting it, to insisting she meant she personally went to see Russia from AL, how she was a liar, an idiot, etc. It was all personal bile.

Truth counts for nothing with these people, it’s the hate.

Harry Reid would say ‘Romney’s up to something.’
I do believe that Mitt is a good man.

“......will we see that he wrote this donation off ??? “

So what if he did?

I don’t give to charity for a write off, but you can be damn sure that I write it off.

I also do what I call random acts of kindness.... it’s like a hobby. I can not legally write these gifts off.

With only one exception, the recipients never know where the gifts came from, I never personally know the recipients personally and I try to keep it that way.

I am not wealthy, so some of the gifts are small, but I think they help folks out and I know it must put a smile on a few faces, even if for only a day.

My point is, nobody can really know why another person gives, they just do.

The original article mentioned that he visited the Hospital after Ted Kennedy did because he was running for the Senate. He stopped after 2 years, he was not Gov. when stopped the support. If it was an anonymous donation no one would have known who the donor was, certainly not a milk delivery man. It was a very charitable thing to do and he stopped for reasons of his own which is his right. I don’t understand why his charity has to be embellished as if it cannot stand on its own.

When the now Republican presidential candidate toured a Veterans Administration hospital

Something isn't adding up with this Romney tale.

The news of the time, reports Mitt visiting a homeless shelter for vets, not a VA hospital.

Also, Mitt's first response created an embarrassing furor of outrage, as Mitt's first reaction was to crack that 'the vets need to learn how to milk cows'.

A homeless shelter (not the VA), an unmentioned campaign gaffe, a political recovery attempt, and for some reason, a truck driver that handles administration and purchasing of what he delivers, so that he would know who was anonymously paying for the milk over the phone, at the warehouse purchasing office.

If someone wants to get the details on this story, they can purchase the story here, and share the details with us. http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/boston/access/62033819.html?FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Nov+05%2C+1994&author=Robert+A.+Jordan%2C+Globe+Staff&pub=Boston+Globe+(pre-1997+Fulltext)&desc=Undecided%3F+Just+read+on&pqatl=google

he was not Gov. when stopped the support

As Paul Harvey would say, here is "The Rest of the Story".

Mitt Romney was governor two years later when Ken Smith, Director of New England Center for Homeless Veterans, submitted his budget for approval. Mitt Romney remembered and Ken Smith found his government approved food budget doubled.

There are many other stories the media did not attend that clearly indicate Mitt Romney is a good and decent man. Having a good and decent man as the nation's President does not ensure a good President but the odds lean strongly in that direction.

Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again. Ronald Reagan

I repeat this quote because I feel there are many liberals who believe that if they decide a more socialist America is not for them they can simply get it back at the next election. Yes, unfortunately I do believe many of them are that ignorant.
