How long until somebody decides that caffeine, nicotine, butter, excess body fat, etc. requires an ignition interlock?

So you can be stoned off your mind, blow into the device and drive on your merry way. What good does it do?? Is this the new scarlet letter “A”?

CONVICTED!
These are for people that have already been CONVICTED of DUI. It is part of their legal penalty.
How many strikes should someone get for DUI before the law takes some action against them?
Would you prefer these people convicted of DUI simply be thrown in jail for an extended period of time, because that is the alternative they are facing?

Bet if you look closely enough, you'll find an interlock manufacturer or installer has made some campaign contributions to certain state legislators, and whoever appoints judges in New Mexico.
Just a hunch.

If you're in the interlock business, that is.

The problem is DUI covers non-alcohol and the blowers only detect alcohol. The only thing it accomplishes is making these people buy the expensive interlock devices... hmm wonder who had that idea.

We are so screwed.
"Its true that we know that an ignition interlock doesnt detect drug use, but we also know a lot of times theres dual use. Its not just drugs people are using. Sometimes its alcohol with drugs,..."
"The ignition interlock requirement, the court said, is rationally related to the goal of the Legislature in protecting the public from motorists unable to drive safely because of drugs or alcohol."
"In sum, the Legislature is outlawing impaired driving in and of itself, not the method by which one becomes impaired, the court said in an opinion written by Chief Judge Celia Foy Castillo"
These are the brilliant minds of the elite. These people should be eliminated.
The Kenyan must go.

"The courts ruling came Wednesday in the case of a woman arrested in 2009 in Santa Fe County for driving under the influence of drugs. A blood test found the presence of the prescription painkiller oxycodone as well as a sedative, which as a brand name drug is called Valium. The woman, Tara Valdez, pleaded guilty to a first-time DWI offense but challenged the requirement to have an ignition interlock."It was her first.
The Kenyan must go.

I trust that neither of you ever take any prescription or over-the-counter drugs and are thus not exposed.

I am walking around with residues of both of those drugs in my system. Broke 4 ribs in my back 6 weeks ago.
The oxy was prescribed as a Vicodin painkiller. The Valium as a muscle relaxant to ease up the muscle spasms around the injury.
Neither of them really work, by the way.
I am very careful not to drive when I'm "feeling" them, but who knows what is in my system when I am not?

1) Fill up one or more balloons when you’re sober.
2) Use on of those 12volt tire pumps to blow into the detector.
3) Anyone that knows anything about cars would be able to bypass this thing easily although it probably keeps track of when it has been activated so if you get pulled over and you didn’t blow into this thing, bad things happen.

It demands a blow every 5-20 minutes while you are driving.
Playing with the bypass would be worse than being sh!itfaced.

When I hurt my back I had all kinds of therapy, ultrasonic heat massage (awesome). After 6 weeks of zero progress, they prescribed a drug called, Soma. Not the drug from Brave New World but what a difference. My back was better in two days.
