It's a dilemma that many working moms face: What do you do when your child is too sick to go to school but you have a can't-miss obligation at the office?
For Adrienne Pine, a single mom and an assistant professor of anthropology at American University in Washington, D.C., the choice seemed clear. When her infant daughter woke up with a fever on August 28, the first day of Pine's class on Sex, Gender and Culture, Pine decided to bring her baby along.
Everything went smoothly for the first part of the 75-minute long lecture.

Dad? Is that you?
:p
Seriously, the ladyfemale wants to bring her offspring with her so she can feed it, I'm ok with that. Not going to observe, since I have a weak stomach, and she ain't pretty, but ok.
Letting the kid climb the walls and work out the natural selection thing? I'm great with that part, as long as it's quiet about it. I can't hear crap, but bratling screams are in my hearing loss 'I can hear that' notch, dammit.
The fact that she has a job in academia teaching a dead end course that is probably destructive to America? THAT... I have a problem with.

Thanks, I just had a flashback to graduate school.
Her timing SUCKS.
(so does the kid...ha)
If she had done this 2 weeks earlier she would have been given a speaking slot at the Dopey Nonsensical Competion in Charlotteville NC.
That would have gotten some attention - whip it out and yell come and get it and prop her kid up.....
Course then the idiots would have called it a wardrobe malfunction.
Good points. I personally wouldn’t object to anyone breast feeding in front of me since I did, however we live in a culture (sadly) where many are uncomfortable with it. I say sadly because I think that’s one of the main reasons so many babies in the US are not breast fed and miss out on a far superior food source. But, being what it is, women who are not sensitive and do it discreetly as you suggest do not help the cause.
The woman in the article has discovered one of the big drawbacks of being a single mother. I am curious how she manages to breastfeed and work full time. If she is pumping for when she’s at work why didn’t she give the baby a bottle?
I could care less what she, or her boobs look like but, sorry, I'm not paying for a college class so the instructor can breast feed her crumb cruncher on my dime.
This is on par to having your stewardess tote her "young in" on-board and breast feeds while she hands you your $5 Coke.
I suppose it would be just as ok if another bodily function called and she walked over to the corner of the room, dropped trou and took a leak?
Time and a place. Decorum. It's not always about you....
Exactly. And I thought the libs (like Bloomberg) were now REQUIRING women to breast feed.
“The woman in the article has discovered one of the big drawbacks of being a single mother. I am curious how she manages to breastfeed and work full time. If she is pumping for when shes at work why didnt she give the baby a bottle?”
I think she did it purposefully, because yes, if she was working full time, she’d either be pumping or feeding formula. I know that from personal experience. Aside from that, as an RN, this kid shouldn’t have been out exposing an entire lecture hall to who knows what, and she put the infant’s health at further risk. When I worked in a children’s hospital, no one in our unit wanted to float to the general pediatric floor because we’d always end up sick afterwards. The woman just wanted her 15 minutes of fame. The woman in the article has discovered one of the big drawbacks of being a single mother. I am curious how she manages to breastfeed and work full time. jury’s out on guilt
a Jewish progressive feminist fruitbat who of course...sympathizes with Israel's enemies
hates America and it's male power structure
thinks Conservative Christians are Gnatzees and the rest of the usual progressive buffet
I got one question...how do you get “up” for the occasion to give her that baby?
I don't think I could with a bucket of Cialis and a gun to my head
I cannot imagine she actually has a real husband...
She doesn't. She's described as "a single mom".
Doesn't say if she was married and then divorced, but I'd guess she had a fling with a turkey baster, or possibly a one night stand on beer goggles night.
poor kid...can u imagine
Neither is it about you and your effete sensibilities. Equating breastfeeding with elimination is simply a manic vulgarity.
Further, show me a college instructor required to wear a uniform, meet height/weight restrictions, and serve as a first responder in crisis management, and I'll grant your "stewardess" canard some validity.
“Im a huge advocate of breastfeeding, but the child was crawling on the filthy floor poking at electrical outlets.”
So, how old was this “ingant” she was breast feeding that craweled all over the floor and causing mischief?
LOL! Yup, that's me. Able to demonstrate effete sensibilities with regular manic vulgarities on a regular basis. You don't think outside the box much, do you?
Oooops ingant=infant
The classification basis is "mammaries".
Seems pretty basic to me. What is those little studirats' gripe?
Or a machismo sperm donor from a turd world hole like fellow anthropologist Stanley Ann Dunham was so keen to have.
Oh I think she it purposefull too but not for those reasons. She wanted to start to to indoctrinate her students on the ways of third world mothering or some such socialist/commie crap or that she was ‘down with revolution’
Fortunately, my graduate degrees are in business so I didn't have to listen to this vacuous crap.
