So when a hurricane hits a heavily populated area, it is no laughing matter. But some liberals are enjoying the news anyway.

I was in Florida in 2004 for 3 of the 4 that hit that year, and, not coincidentally in NOLA the day before Katrina hit. Go figure. Anyway, I’ve looked at many hurricane tracks and watched them intently since then, and especially because we own property south of Tampa in Longboat Key. In my view, the risk for Tampa with this one is nil. It will do one of two things - continue west across the Yucatan, or turn north before it comes to Florida, perhaps strafing the east around Jacksonville and south Georgia with its northwest quadrant. Far better that than the northeast quadrant, which is what did in Biloxi and the small towns on the Mississippi coast with Katrina. In fact, the only thing that saved NOLA from total destruction was that last minute right turn - had she passed west, and the northeast quadrant passed over the city, she would have been gone.
This is one of those "Breaking Now - Sun Rises in East!" stories...
The best case scenario that I can imagine is rain with a bunch of drenched reporters and protesters with their tents blowing away, lead by Joe Biden looking like a wet cat.
Charlotte didn’t fare so well with Hugo, but that took a perfect scenerio that this storm isn’t likely to take: a full inland push from Charleston with a Cat 5 storm. If this one affects NC, it will likely be either a coastal runner or an Outer Banks brush and Charlotte probably won’t get the first drop of rain from it.
The MSM dismisses a site as a "blog" if the author is not an employee of a "recognized" news organization. There are blogs that mostly just reflect the opinions of their authors, and have readership of single-digits to a few hundred. Then there are blogs which produce original content, or which aggregate news from multiple sources, and which in my opinion have better claim to being "news" sites than most MSM sites.
Not so much thinking of this storm, but according the national hurrican center http://www.nhc.noaa.gov there is another disturbance in the eastern Atlantic that could be arriving just in time for the DNC!
A hurricane of angry black yahoos is going to hit the Democrat convention.
All of the black blok and OWS thugs will finally get the shower they need, if they venture outdoors

Over the last few years, I’ve said exactly the same thing to people. As bad as Katrina was to New Orleans, it could have been A LOT worse.
A mishmash of the two words "Web" and "Log".
A log kept on the web.
Huh?
The Republican venues vary from 1 foot to 300 feet from the water; all of the venues and the hotels are in Category 1-Category 2 evacuation zones.
1) Tampa's just been lucky recently. That luck will run out eventually.
2) Huh? 5 day forecast tracks aren't very accurate, but right now Tampa is smack in the middle of all of the model forecast tracks.
Just enough to clean the garbage from the streets!
The Charlotte metro area hasn’t gotten hit hard by hurricane remnants since Hugo in 1989. Since I live here now (about 20 miles northeast), I don’t want a tropical storm coming over my head. Now, four days of good soaking rain between September 4 and 7, that I could easily live with since I work from home anyway. :)

This storm doesn’t look too serious. But enough to call off the RNC for evacuation efforts. The mayor was on the local news saying that safety trumps politics. I will be watching this in the days to come. Today? Im a minor league prepper heading to the store.
re: Huh?
Just thinking that this particular storm is coming from the east, and lose a good amount of steam getting to the Tampa’s west side. Clearly, a Gulf ‘caine would swamp Tampa.
However, I’ll admit I’m a pilot and weather lover; not going to Tampa, but if I had my druthers, I’d make a mad dash to it to combine the ‘caine experience with a political experience.
My sentiment still stands: I wish clear skies and tailwinds on Tampa; Tempests, F-5 Tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis on the DNC.
Maybe you should post your travel plans so the rest of us can be elsewhere during hurricane season :-)
Maybe not right in the middle, but just to the East of the models. If this stays on track this will be a major hurricane so being just off the mark will only be marginally helpful. It will be over the very warm gulf waters longer.
My guess is that the poster is Robert Elliot, eh?
