Appearing on Sean Hannitys radio program for the second time in as many days, Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin attacked the GOPs presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, for joining a chorus of Republicans asking him to withdraw from the race. Akin said that Romney had blown the controversy out of proportion and implied that he had done so for his own political gain.
Hannity asked Akin, given the number of prominent Republican politicians asking Akin to drop out including Romney, if he is even pausing to consider leaving the Senate race in Missouri.
Let me ask you this, Akin began. If you were in Romneys position, dont you think that he may have bid this thing up and made a bigger deal about it than he needed to?
Why couldnt he run his race and I run mine, asked Akin. If things really look like theyre getting in trouble in Missouri than maybe but he has just assumed.

And this time, it is a conservative that snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. Not RINO.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm curious; Akin also seems oblivious to the fact that it's the "woman's body has ways" quote that has damned him.
He probably wouldn't even have made the local news for the "legitimate rape" line.
someone will call Allen a RINO next or call him abortion loving
family values is not talking about legitimate rape or about a magic spermicide.
I wonder how many of the buffoons who defend this moron are going to donate to him.
Those were all lies. Notice the ‘evidence’ the bimbos promised never materialized. Conservatives preferred to systematically eat their own instead of purging the liars from the party.
Makes me want to send a dollar to McCaskill.
What a numbskull this guy Akin is.
The remarks and person he should be studying is Sen. Coburn:
“... Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma was damaged in 2004 not by his pen but his tongue in what was thought to be a safe Senate race against Democrat Brad Carson. During an August town hall meeting, Mr. Coburn called the Oklahoma legislature a bunch of crapheads and said the problem with the Cherokees living in his former congressional district is that most of them arent Indians.
Mr. Coburn also remarked that lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that theyll only let one girl go to the bathroom. He nevertheless won the election, 53 percent to 42 percent, and has become one of the leading conservative voices on Capitol Hill.”
There isn’t anything in the whole of his thought at the time that merits making a mountain of it. Why we buy into liberal fear and PC is beyond me. Let him say what he wants. There’s plenty of time to hear him out on what he really means, and what policies he advocates based on his thought. But to damn him for one string of words prompted by the liberal penchant for frolicking in manure? Pfft.
WWRHD?(What would Reagan have done?): He would have, if asked said: "People of conscience have very strong feelings about abortion. I believe that life begins at conception and that that conception should be a wanted and loved child from consensual parents. If it is your daughter, sister, mother or wife who is raped, it then becomes a non-governmental decision whether to terminate any pregnancy that results from this heinous crime. The case of rape is specific. The liberals think that ANY pregnancy should be just an option not a life, and that the govt. should provide paid abortions on demand with abortion used as a contraceptive. Simultaneously they defend and support rapists by eliminating their progeny with no consequence to the victim- really two victims in the case of a child. It cannot be both ways. Our position is quite clear- no federal support of abortion, period, and the state's laws should govern the legal basis for safe, limited abortion."
That would be Reagan conservativism, in my opinion.
A good trigger is when you pull it you don’t know when it fire1!
No more than Led Zeppelin would be beholden to my views since I forked over for their music. Would be nice to see the liberals trounced even better in this case.
WRT the issue of abortion and rape in the political arena, no politician should field and answer questions on the fly like that. Take time to understand the question and audience. Ask for the question to be put in writing, and then consider how your answer can best advance the rightful role of civil goverment in defending innocent life at all stages. In going apoplectic over this, the left is tacitly acknowledging power over life and death as their utmost aim.
Agreed.
That SOB is going to drag Romney down with him and single-handedly give obama 4 more years. Might as well kiss the House goodbye, too.
Akin is the biggest gift the donks could have ever dreamed of. The media will hound Romney with this right through the election.
Romney Exploited Rape Statement Controversy For Political Gain
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Bear....feces.....woods
Romney on Chik-Fil-A, “That’s not part of my campaign”.
Romney on Akin, “He should end his campaign”.
Democrats would not be asking their guy to step down I bet
Dems wouldn’t be criticized for it, either. You have to be realistic and acknowledge that, whether you like it or not and whether it’s fair or not, the GOP is going to be attacked for things that Biden could say on a daily basis without any effect.
Akin is either too dumb to realize this or he doesn’t care.
