Brittney Leon and Terri-Ann Simonelli, a pregnant same-sex couple, went to a Las Vegas hospital where they were told their legal domestic partnership was invalid, as far as the hospital was concerned.
Hours later, after being emotionally upset over their treatment, Brittney Leon, the pregnant mother, lost their baby.
Nevada has banned same-sex marriage, but a 2009 Nevada law makes domestic partnerships equivalent to marriage, yet Spring Valley Hospitals official policy is that same-sex couples must secure a power of attorney in order to be able to make medical decisions for each other, or even to be notified of the staus of their loved one.

Absolutely: Mr. Badash knows he was bullsh*tting for his political agenda. Many women go through all kinds of stress throughout their pregnancies: The population would be very low if “emotional upset” were a trigger for miscarriage. Also, on another site it said, “The couple do not plan to bring any lawsuits”: Translation, no grounds as nothing occurred.
What is a Santorum linked hospital? Does it really exist?
“That’s the right point.
It’s nauseating to see the “state” handing over children to deviants.
A lesbian “couple” has soft connotations: would they be so happy about a “couple” of aging pedophiles having a child given to them?
A society that tolerates that is almost beyond saving.”

Good people in Massachusetts tried to stop homosexual adoption, a perversion and Romney went against them.
Only if the patient is not able to do so. That is not the case in this situation.
It is very clear to me...... Dingy’s fault
I was wondering that, too. “Santorum-Linked”. Does it mean he donates to it? He had an operation there? They know him? But I guess Mr. Badash just had to get that in the headline, as he is pi$$ed that Santorum is stirring up the anti-gay marriage forces in Washington this week.
I live in Las Vegas and have worked with nurses from Spring Valley. That headline is absolutely laughable. I didn’t read the article because I already knew it was going to be some seriously spun propaganda. Seriously- Las Vegas and an anti-Gay agenda? ROFLMAO.
Yes, good point about Las Vegas. and yeah, pure propaganda piece. For sure.
Oh, so NOW they refer to it as a 'baby.'
The baby is dead. Nothing can be done about that. Something can be done, however, about the maudlin, deceitful narrative that is being spun around this.
I hope that helps.
Right.
And Badash is making an accusation, purposely being incendiary, though he knows the baby was not lost due to this “upset”. The woman was admitted because the pregnancy was already a distressed one. No lawsuits are pending as the couple themselves know it was not caused by the incident. He is using a tragedy to get his inflammatory headline out there.
Wait? A baby? Obama is unwilling to concede this is life. Even if it were to be delivered out of the womb and gasping for air.
This was just “tissue” to hear the Left call it.
Right, until it is expedient for them to call it a “baby”.
The lavender mafia has been gunning for Santorum since he described the “slippery slope” of the homosexual agenda in the wake of the Lawrence v. Texas judicial activist decision.
They will hate him for decades as they did Anita Bryant.
Yes, he knew Lawrence would lead to the present situation.
And yes, for that he has earned their hatred, but as a Christian he knows it comes with the territory (Blessed are you when people insult and persecute you, and utter calumny against you for my sake: Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in like manner were the prophets before you reviled.”).
“Yes, good point about Las Vegas.”
I’ve lived in Vegas for years, worked in 3 different hospitals, and driven my daughter to UNLV and husband to the airport more times than I can count. I regularly pass a billboard showing the back of a show girl in a thong, I pass several strip clubs, a billboard for a show featuring a female impersonator, a Thunder From Down Under billboard, as well as billboards that I couldn’t politely describe. It’s not uncommon to see drunks puking in front of a casino. There’s a reason it’s called Sin City. Vegas has tourists from all over the world and of all kinds of sexual orientation. It’s always a little surprising to see a prostitutes out before noon. Those of us with legitimate jobs deal with it. There is just no way the women were singled out and discriminated because they’re lesbians in Sin City.
You have my sympathy for all you must see on a regular basis. You have doubly confirmed that any bias against this couple was purely in the mind of the author——and not even in his mind, but rather concocted deliberately for political purposes.
The simplistic answer is: get the confounded Durable Power of Attorney paperwork! Then whoever, for whatever status, other than ‘married’, would be covered, by the hospital’s policy!
I did that, when I was going in for major surgery. “why did you do that?” I am divorved, with no living kin or seed, with my ‘person of interest’ (who has turned down my proposals), as my appointed Power of Attorney.
Sure, it’s a sad thing that the baby did not survive.
And yes, this article WAS written, with the gay martyr syndrome attempting to loose some tears.
Yes, you did the right thing: You simply did what you had to do, in less-than-ideal circumstances. No boo-hooing or crying “unfair”. I am tired of gay couples and gay activists who want the rest of us to feel sorry for their “plight”. Life isn’t perfect even for those - such as yourself- who did not go out of their way to make things weirder than they need be, as gays do.
I’d like to ask them how it feels to be on the side that has to employ lies, slander, and half-truths to drum up public support for their abnormal lifestyle that rejects one of the very core principles of the human species.
Homosexuality is, to my knowledge, the only physiological anomaly on the planet that we don’t actively try to prevent, treat, or cure. It’s like saying that Schizophrenia is so natural that to try to treat or prevent it is morally wrong.
