Brittney Leon and Terri-Ann Simonelli, a pregnant same-sex couple, went to a Las Vegas hospital where they were told their legal domestic partnership was invalid, as far as the hospital was concerned.
Hours later, after being emotionally upset over their treatment, Brittney Leon, the pregnant mother, lost their baby.
Nevada has banned same-sex marriage, but a 2009 Nevada law makes domestic partnerships equivalent to marriage, yet Spring Valley Hospitals official policy is that same-sex couples must secure a power of attorney in order to be able to make medical decisions for each other, or even to be notified of the staus of their loved one.

I read elsewhere that:
1. The hospital said gay couples needed power of attorney, not anything about their union being invalid.
2. They were there for pregnancy complications and the baby was NOT lost due to the incident.
Seems Badash is trying to make a gay martyrdom case. Shameless. This title is now all over the internet. And "Santorum-linked"? Seriously? Are they implying that some evil lurks within this affiliation? Pathetic!
You forgot to add, it isn’t “their” baby. It’s biologically impossible.
This is just more sodomite agitprop.
See? Rick Santorum hates women, too, just like Akin. < /sarcasm>
Aren’t you sad? A baby died. The politics or sexual orientation of the parent is irrelevant compared to that.
That is the most biased headline I’ve ever read. You win!
Allowing these mental perverts the right to own, buy, or adopt children is simply below the level of the civilized world.
Like them or not, homos and their insistence on approval through legal “marriage” are the “winnowing fork” of the present time.
Separating the wheat and the chaff.
Look for this winnowing in the Church body.
The tares grow with the wheat, but they will be winnowed out and the wheat gathered into the barn.
It's nauseating to see the "state" handing over children to deviants.
A lesbian "couple" has soft connotations: would they be so happy about a "couple" of aging pedophiles having a child given to them?
A society that tolerates that is almost beyond saving.
I read the article and it is exactly “A pack of lies” as they creatively attempt to connect the loss of the baby with their legal and lawful rights.
The baby was sadly lost due to complications not because of any hesitantcy or negligence.
Anybody has to get a power of attorney to make medical decisions for another person.
Not true. Spouses can do it. Sometimes the first related person to the hospital does it.
(I do not doubt the baby was lost - and for that I weep - but the cause/effect relationship suggested is pure BS.)
Send that comment to the author of the article. He's the one using this incident to try to score political points.
The loss of any baby is a tragedy. It's a shame that the far left can only manage tears when they can link the tragedy, however tenuously, to an attack on values. As for the indirect implication that the loss was due to the emotional upset, the careful wording suggests that the journalist responsible for this propaganda finds the charge as unlikely as I do. Further, any woman so delicate that she would miscarry over an inconvenience was going to find actual parenthood extremely challenging; "they" should not bother trying to get pregnant again if they are so easily traumatized.
Only if the patient is not able to do so. That is not the case in this situation.
I know: I bristled when I read, “a pregnant lesbian couple”: Not possible.
Only one of them is pregnant, without the input of the other. A heterosexual couple may be termed, “a pregnant couple” as both of them contributed to the conception.
Love that meter! :-)
Of course it is always very sad when a baby dies. But my beef is with David Badash, who posted an incendiary headline to vamp up his politics.
“Send that comment to the author of the article. He’s the one using this incident to try to score political points.”
Roger that! Of course the loss of a baby is tragic, but that is NO excuse to pretend - for political purposes - that a “Santorum-linked” hospital is somehow the cause of this. That headline is incendiary and misleading.
