After hundreds of thousands of people ate dinner at his restaurants on Wednesday for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, one Georgia family, a same-sex couple and their two daughters, has invited Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy to have dinner at their house.
But the dinner invitation from Marci Alt and wife Marlysa, who live near Chick-fil-A’s Atlanta headquarters, is no paltry piece of paper, it is backed by an online petition sponsored by Change.org, an online organizing platforms for activists, and GLAAD, a gay rights advocacy group.
“I hope Mr. Cathy will join my family for dinner, where we can share a respectful dialogue about our faith, work and families here in Georgia,” Alt said in a statement. “It’s important that Mr. Cathy meet the people his company is donating millions to stand against.”
“I’ll even make chicken,” Alt added.

I hope he goes. Maybe then they’ll see that someone can disagree with them and not be filled with hate. They can’t seem to separate the two.

Decline politely, as it’s pointless. Nothing will change a Christian’s position on believing homosexuality is wrong. We don’t have that option. It’s not a matter of persuading Mr. Cathy to change HIS mind, they would have to change GOD’S mind.

I’d make it a swap deal: Come with me to church and I’ll join you for dinner. It’s a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the concept of “Hate the sin, love the sinner.” But it probably won’t work because the fags will punish him for meeting the gals.
Would I want to sit down to dinner with a couple of muff divers who’s sole reason to invite me is to listen to their horse dung and show me how they are destroying the lives of two innocent children??

If he refuses he will be called a horse’s ass , if he goes he will still be called a horse’s ass when they cannot convince him that Every man should marry a man and every woman should marry a woman and the two should only meet for breeding purposes.

The guy doesn’t hate you. He believes what you are doing is wrong. He hasn’t forbidden you to freuquent his facilities. He hasn’t even called you a bad person.
He supports marriage being defined as a relationship between one man and one woman.
Get over your own bigotry and then start working on others. No, forget that. Just worry about your own life. Don’t worry how others live theirs. Sound familiar?
Bully for them! This is so much better than an in store protest. Would have been even better if they hadn’t backed it with an on-line petition.
That being said, I agree with your assessment, Mr. Cathy should very politely decline.

I don’t think he’s obligated to even dignify it with a response. Do they think every letter sent to a CEO of a major corporation is answered by the CEO?
IMO it’s a hair-brained idea that doesn’t warrant a response. It’s obvious they’re trying to stretch this out as long as they can, and milk it for all it’s worth. End it now.
All this is about is, “This is the face of same sex marraige.” Awwwah! Two more users, just what the world needs.
If they intended it to be "respectful", they wouldn't be using it as a PR stunt, complete with an online petition and help from GLAAD.
An invitation under those circumstances isn’t hospitality, it’s blackmail. I don’t know about Mr. Cathy, but I don’t take blackmail very well.
I think it a vain hope that it is an honest invitation rather than a cynical manipulation and ambush. I would love to share that hope, but reading how it is something backed by a group of progressive activists rather shatters it for me.
