A powerful New York politician claims she was just speaking as a private citizen when she tried to run Chick-fil-A out of town, but she used her official letterhead and even invoked her position as City Council speaker to apply pressure on the embattled chicken chain.
New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who has mayoral aspirations, sent a letter to New York University president John Sexton on Saturday asking the school to immediately end their contract with the fast food restaurant. The Atlanta-based company's sole New York City outlet is in the school's food court.
"I write as the Speaker of the NYC Council, and on behalf of my family. NYC is a place where we celebrate diversity. We do not believe in denigrating others. We revel in the diversity of all our citizens and their families, the letter begins.
"Let me be clear ‐‐ I do not want establishments in my city that hold such discriminatory views," Quinn, an open lesbian who recently married her longtime partner, also wrote in the letter. "We are a city that believes our diversity is our greatest strength and we will fight anything and anyone that runs counter to that."
'If we allow something like this, then the next letter might be concerning someones view on abortion.'
- NYC Council member Peter Vallone
As such I urge you to sever your relationship with the Chick‐fil‐A establishment that exists on your campus, the speaker added.
The letter has drawn the ire from others on the council.
She can write to someone as a council member, but if she states that she is writing as the Speaker it can only be on behalf of the entire council. She has to have the majority vote of the council, and I dont recall voting on this...,

let me get this right.
They celebrate diversity but does not want those in her so called city which have different views.
Surely diversity is differing views too not poeple who like their sex in unnatural ways and which is very unhealthy.
Again the homosexuals show how their minds work and they wonder why people think of them as mentally unfit

No brains at all, some of them. Just bits of fluff blown into their heads by mistake.

they shout tolerance and yet they show their intolerance.
They shout bigots and haters and yet it is they who show hate and bigotry towards Christians, funny how they don;t protest mosques and muslim businesses.
Now imagine if we had a true fair and free media which could question her on that stupid comment but alas we dont .

“Quinn, an open lesbian...”
Add 20 years to her, and she looks EXACTLY like Elena Kagan (on the Supreme Court). You can smell these types a mile away.
It would HORRIFY me if I had a daughter that looked like her...but I would still do my best to teach her that not every single guy was a MONSTER and that some actually respect women. I would then not spend a PENNY to put her through college - way too risky.

What does she bench? I often wondered the same thing about 'Libyan strongman Moammar Khadafy'.

There is one at NYU, but it is closed for the summer. I wonder what Quinn thinks about the fact that the students at NYU voted that Chicka A Fil A stay there. Apparently the students like the food.

"We are a city that believes our diversity is our greatest strength" The words of a certified simpleton obsessed with her sexual persersion.
Take a few people of every ethnicity, skin color and sexual perversion on earth, set them all down in the middle of Mogadishu, Detroit, Tehran or the south side of Chicago and see how well their "greatest strength" serves them.

Did you see the new uproar here in NYC? The NYPD sold all the brass they collected from the range to Georgia Arms. NYC law requires the city to sell to the highest bidder and Georgia Arms was it. The usual suspects have there knickers in a twist saying Bloomie is a hypocrite, calling for gun control and then selling ammo to some gun company. You know the usual blather from libs who can't be bothered to actually know something about any subject they want to legislate. Bloomie told them to take a hike as he was following the law, so now they want to change the law so the city can sell to any one they deem PC. Even if they are the lowest bidder. Just like the term limits fiasco, when they want something to hell with the voters.
