I just returned from CF in San Diego on Sport Arena Drive. The store is located next to the Arena parking lot which is taking the overflow of parking and the drive thru. There must be 100+ cars waiting and even more people on foot outside the door. An independent news crew is on hand and a news helo overhead.

Thanks for your report. As an ex-North County resident, I was wondering how San Diego County would react. I hope someone reports on the North County locations, too.

On Michelle Malkin's Twitchy site it looks like Wendy's corporate did not like this local franchise owner showing support to CFA...and, sadly, the signs came down. Wendy's corporate then released a snarky statement that they "serve ALL customers".
Ahem....so does CFA!!

Backfire Wendy's =(

Our CFA SW of Houston was packed!! The lines were wrapped around the building, inside and out!!

Mom just gave me a report about the Dublin Ohio(Sawmill Rd.) location. Someone came in and bought everyone who was in the store their meals. About 200 people.

Once everyone found out, they broke out singing God Bless America. Doesn’t get any better than that.

Here’s the original Huckabee interview with Mr. Cathy that comes up nearby on Youtube - pretty good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iD8—xDlnM&feature=related

Amazing what started as a very simple suggestion by Huckabee, and one that I don’t think he thought would turn into such a huge thing.

“So if you happen to see record sales that day - remember it started here.” he said with a chuckle.

Waco Chick-fil-A lunchtime crowds swell in support of company

Both Waco Chick-fil-A locations overflowed with customers today as lunchtime crowds showed up to support the company after its president spoke of his stance against gay marriage.

At the company's Franklin Avenue location, diners filled every seat – like most weekdays – but the lobby was packed with more than 50 customers, many sipping soft drinks or shakes as they waited for to-go orders. A line of 30 to 40 people waiting to order also snaked out the door.

Traffic backed up along Franklin Avenue as cars flooded the restaurant's two drive-thru lines. A line of vehicles trailed from the parking lot to the intersection of Franklin Avenue and New Road.

The Chick-fil-A inside the Richland Mall food court had a line of more than three dozen customers that extended into the main mall hallway.

Most of the diners said they felt the backlash against Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy for his support of traditional marriage ran afoul of the First Amendment right to free speech.

“Everyone has the right to believe whatever they want to believe, and you should not be punished for having your own opinion,” said Hillary Fleischhauer, 21, a McLennan Community College student in line at the Franklin Avenue store.

Line at noon at Frederick MD location was so long we turned around. Came back a few hours later and the drive-through was still packed and there were no parking spaces. Parked at Target and walked over. There must have been over 200 people packed in that little building. They were taking orders and then calling out names when food was ready.

The place was loud but, everyone was polite and we got our food more quickly than the 12 minute wait projection we received.

We went to the Orland Park, Illinois store and the police were out in force directing traffic to park in all of the other businesses parking lots due to the huge crowds in the hundreds waiting to be served. Needless to say we were unable to get in there due to all of the freedom loving people patronizing the restaurant.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

"Hundreds of people coming from miles around to buy chicken sandwiches and waffle fries in support of Chick-fil-A turned the chicken chain’s Orland Park restaurant into a giant gathering for advocates of free speech and traditional marriage Wednesday."

Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers location packed outside and in. Had trouble getting in and out, but was worth it.

I was surprised at how quick and efficiently the employees were getting the orders out. Despite the crowds, my order was near instant.

Also, I was reminded why I had started going there long before it was “cool.” Great food, excellent service in a clean and friendly environment.

The S.Florida Ave CFA in Lakeland, Fl was packed inside and the dual drive-thru was full, but not overflowing at 7:45am when I went there for breakfast on my way into work.

My coworkers were unable to buy their planned lunch at 11:45, because the streets were backed up over two blocks, police were directing traffic, and a news crew was on site.
They said they would try for dinner. I think the store will have run out of food by then....

Oceanside, CA, Marron at College just south of Hwy 78.

Arrived 10:15 AM with she who must be obeyed. Can’t remember her ever in a fast-food place. Maybe drive by to bring something home for me.

Lot’s of folks from Cavalry Chapel, her church. The minister mentioned the day and said he was a friend of someone in the owner/family.

Only 1 cashier and he said he didn’t know about the day. Huh?

Line starts out the door about 10:30. About 20 cars in the drive thru.

I’ve been there at 10 AM and can usually drive right up to the service window and order there. So it’s a big difference.

People polite and courteous.

Servers as usually nice and polite. Helpful.

We left about 11:10. 35 or so cars in the drive thru going into the larger parking lot.

About 25 people lined up outside the door.

Friend called at 2 PM. cars backed up for two blocks to bottom of freeway offramp. Took him 45 minutes to get into the CFA parking lot drive thru lane

Big day for Oside.

I’ll go back Friday and bring home a bunch.

I passed two in High Point, NC that were jammed, thought I’d swing by another on S. Main in Kernersville instead but it was jammed worse, during my hour commute home. I left the office at five. A lot of evening spillover from people who just couldn’t do it during lunch while at work, apparently.

PS three employees showed up at 11, I assume regular lunch shift. Don’t know if all employees will work the rest of the day.
