I don’t think that’s a good career move.

The Rebels might not like a Russian solution to the rebel areas near the naval base.

It has been posted that the WMD in Iraq were moved by the Russians into Syria,if not directly by the Russians, then under their guidance and control. It was also posted that the ownership was by the Russians because Saddam had not paid for them yet.

It seems a reasonable thought that the Russians never relinquished control and have in fact maintained that control in Syria.

Conclusion..... the WMD are now at the Russian naval base

O goody, goody, pass the popcorn! The Soviets, oops, I mean the Russians have been Syria's loyal defender for so long nobody can remember when they weren't. It would be just lovely to see Soviet, I mean Russian military vessel at the bottom of the Tartus harbor! The Russkies will make mincemeat out of the Mad Muslims! It will be a nice fight, Cruel Russians against heartless religious fanatics. Like I said, pass the popcorn. Maybe the Syrian WMD will be used on the Russkies and then they can nuke the Muslims...can I have butter on that popcorn?

I’ll bet Zippo is swatting a lot of flies over this. He’s between Barack and a hard place. He wants the Brother(s)hood to win, but he loves kissing Russian ass.

We don't want to attack the port, we are not terrorists, but if they keep acting like this we will have no choice."

Yes, they are terrorists. The rebels and the Assad government both.

By this time, the rebels have been joined by all the terrorists in the world who can get there. Assad has been joined by Russia (although not really terrorists as of yet) and Iran.

"Informers inside the regime are telling that us that there is a big weapons shipment arriving at Tartous in the next two weeks. We don't want to attack the port, we are not terrorists, but if they keep acting like this we will have no choice."

That is probably what the Russians are provoking.

Take a look at a map. Tartous Naval base is "just up the street" from Isral. Only 140 miles.

If the Russians want to prevent a successful attack on Iran's nuke facilities at Natanz it can sit right there and monitor every aircraft and radio transmission from that base.

If a suspicious flight takes off in Israel and starts a potential route that could lead to Iran the Russians can immediately detect it.

A north route will take them right by the Tartous base.

A central or southern route could be tracked as well, long enough to determine the likely destination (Iran). The shorter southern route will probably be off the table, given the current "nature" of our present administration.

A launch of Israel Jericho III land-based long range ballistic missiles would be immediately detected as well.

An attack on Tartous would play right into the Russians hands. They rekindled their effort to upgrade the base in 2009, about the same time the Iran nuclear threat became valid. Such an attack would provide them the "defense" excuse in that theater to do anything they like.

.

Russian Warships Will Not Enter Syria Port – Navy Chief

MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – Russia’s navy chief said on Thursday that a flotilla of Russian warships off the coast of Syria would not dock at a port leased by Moscow in the violence-stricken Middle East country.

“The joint fleet flotilla will not enter the port of Tartus,” Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov told journalists. “It is carrying out military drills in the Mediterranean.” The flotilla is comprised of 10 warships, plus escort vessels. Chirkov also said the flotilla was carrying marines.

There are two countries that you do not want to mess with, Russia is one of them and China is the other. Both these nations will think of nothing to attack, even if it means losing over a million troops in the process.

The Russians know how to deal with terrorist. Would not recommend intervention against them specifically. The video below is a little to artsy for me, but the point is made well.

That’s a good idea. They should refuse to listen to the diplomats of the world (who work only for their favored, multi-partisan, globalist constituents) and do it.
