Syrian rebels have threatened to attack Russia's naval base at the port of Tartous if Moscow continues to supply weapons to President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
"We have a warning for the Russian forces: if they will send any more weapons that kill our families and the Syrian people we will hit them hard inside Syria," said Louay al-Mokdad, a logistical coordinator for the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
"Informers inside the regime are telling that us that there is a big weapons shipment arriving at Tartous in the next two weeks. We don't want to attack the port, we are not terrorists, but if they keep acting like this we will have no choice."

I don’t think that’s a good career move.
The Rebels might not like a Russian solution to the rebel areas near the naval base.
It has been posted that the WMD in Iraq were moved by the Russians into Syria,if not directly by the Russians, then under their guidance and control. It was also posted that the ownership was by the Russians because Saddam had not paid for them yet.
It seems a reasonable thought that the Russians never relinquished control and have in fact maintained that control in Syria.
Conclusion..... the WMD are now at the Russian naval base
Do you by any chance realize that you have, in effect, stated that George Bush was CORRECT in stating that there were WMD in the possession of Sadam Hussein?
That cannot be allowed to happen. After all, those who suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome have based their entire belief system on “Bush Lied.”
Poor babies.
I have to agree with you...
another case of simple logic, applied simply..
but it was still bush’s fault :)
It bruns me up that I can no longer find the article from several years back about activities prior to the actual invasion. I distinctly recall five heavy haul rigs being attacked by our forces from the air. During that attack on these rigs headed for Syria, we killed a couple rooskies who were escorting the cargo. It looked like it could have been a diplomatic blowout, but very quickly and quietly, the story disappeared. I agree with your conclusion; Russia was up to its eyeballs with weapon deliveries to Saddam, and before the war, removal from Saddam.
Oh right that will go well do they have footage of Georgia
It had also been posted that Iraq had the means of manufacturing WMD, such as the ones used in the war against Iran and on his own people.
So, at what point do Russians gain ownership?
Good luck with all that.
Russian convoy fired on in Iraq

That is an original article from CNN.
AFAIK Russian convoy was six Grand Cherokees. Three people were wounded.
Isn’t it too tricky to move a WMD program this way?
-——So, at what point do Russians gain ownership? ——
We do not know that detail nor other details of Saddam’s actual capability.
In my mind there is a game called WMD. Like other games there is a ball. It is called WMD. Everyone* can play because possession of the ball is not really required. Even direct knowledge of the properties or actual existence of the ball is not required.
Points are scored by making press releases or speeches. The truly exciting part of the game is making some speculation, no matter how wild or illogical, and having it go global. Money is made and political capital is amassed and votes are garnered.
There are some who actually possess real knowledge. They control the ball even if the actual ball is not in their possession. They can always put more points on the board because if the game slows, they have the ability to start a new quarter and score over and over before the others can come back on the field.
In the world of today, we presume that we know all because all is constantly poured onto the media and the internet. The main players of WMD though have maintained secrecy about the real nature and condition and events of WMD because if actually known, the game would end.
Where’s the fun in ending the game?
*(Bert is playing today)
I’ll bet Zippo is swatting a lot of flies over this. He’s between Barack and a hard place. He wants the Brother(s)hood to win, but he loves kissing Russian ass.
LOL! I agree with the rebels - now go attack Russians!
Yes, they are terrorists. The rebels and the Assad government both.
By this time, the rebels have been joined by all the terrorists in the world who can get there. Assad has been joined by Russia (although not really terrorists as of yet) and Iran.
I remember (thought I was the only one), they were running in the middle of the night, blacked out, we apologized for the transgression.
What WMDs ???
Thanks for the sanity check. ;)
