[T]he Romney campaign has not asked Palin to speak at the convention nor contacted her about even attending the partys marquee event in Tampa. Queries to the Romney camp about any possible Palin role at the convention meet with a stony silence. Palin does not seem surprised. What can I say? she responded in an email from Alaska, when asked by Newsweek about the convention, just before heading to Michigan to deliver an Obama-thumping speech. Im sure Im not the only one accepting consequences for calling out both sides of the aisle for spending too much money, putting us on the road to bankruptcy, and engaging in crony capitalism.
Romney was the choice of the partys elites, whom Palin has regarded with open disdain ever since her rough treatment during the 2008 campaign. They are some of the same people who anonymously disparaged Palin as a clueless bumpkin, and some of them are now helping to run Romneys campaign. When unnamed Romney aides tell reporters that Romney will likely go with a safe choice for vice president because of the 2008 disaster, Palin notices.
[....]
The Romney camp will not comment on Palin, or on plans for the convention, but one adviser associated with the campaign suggested that Palin would be prohibited from speaking at the Republican convention by her contract with Fox News. Its true Im prohibited from doing some things, Palin says, but this is the first Ive heard anyone suggest that as an excuse, er, reason to stay away from engaging in the presidential race. Im quite confident Foxs top brass would never strip anyone of their First Amendment rights in this regard. (Fox says her contract would not prohibit speaking at the convention if she sought permission.)

To heck with the lot of them. I'm voting the down ticket. If MR needs my vote in Alabama, he has already lost.
His campaign may be quick on the response, but they are clueless as to what is really happening in "fly over country". If they were half as smart as they think they are they could have shot down all the outsourcing crap by pointing out that Obie's buddy Warren Buffett sent Russell Mills textile jobs in Alex City, Alabama to freaking sweatshops in Honduras.
Idiots.
Poll: 51% of Republicans would rather risk losing elections than win with RINOs
If Romney had any brains.............not going to happen.
He loathes conservatives.
I know..I was just hoping that Romney had just an ounce of common sense, unfortunately he does not
Pretty certain now that by the end of September the campaign knew that McCain would not win, and they were bound and determined that Palin would not get in the way of a Romney nomination in 1012. After 2012, the Establishment -read the Bushies et all—had decided that Romney was their boy, and neither Palin nor anyone else more conservative would get the nod.
I might be wrong but somehow I don’t think so. In this time of flip-flopping candidates and national committees that actively work against those candidates the people support, I believe we are in need of constituents and voters who are willing to take a stand.
A few days before McCain announced his coice for VP — before most people even knew Sarah existed, I e-mailed the RNC to tell them (I doubt they read it) I would not support McCain unless Sarah were his running mate. I knew then that she was the best choice for the position, especially since McCain was in relatively poor hralth and might not complete his term if he were elected.
Then I watched as the RNC proceeded to tear her apart with rumor and innuendo bolstered by outright lies. They were so successful the lies are still being repeated, even by some who said they supported her at the time. Obviously Mitt isn’t the only flip-flopper among Republicans.
Well, here we are, nearly four years later and we’re going to get just what we deserve, if not Romney then another four years of Obama. Alone, I have no control over the outcome of the election. In truth, with the Spanish company (owned by George Soros) compiling the votes, I doubt any combination of conservative voters will be enough to sway the election. But, just as I knew she was the best in 2008 I still believe she is head and shoulders above Romney or any of the other casualties who once dreamed of the nomination. So, I am still going to vote for the one person whom I feel is best qualified to lead this once-great nation.
Go Sarah!
Newsweek, eh? Could this story be an effort to further alienate conservatives from Romney and suppress the conservative vote?
Amy let me introduce you to Allen West... no disrespect to Palin. But he is someone who could excite the base.
Thank you. I would rely on your info before anything in print at Newsweek where they make the news they want us to see.
And, how is this going to get enough conservative voters/very conservative voters to, willingly, vote for Mitt Romney, this November? Is Mitt trying to lose?
Oh, I scarcely think Mittens requires Newsweek's assistance on that score.
Read through some of those 58,800 pages of her emails released by the state of Alaska and you’ll find that she was ready in 2008. After the media got them, all discussion of them stopped. They just didn’t fit into the media narrative.
“I checked the convention website, and it doesnt appear they have asked anybody to speak yet. I think we should probably wait until they announce the convention speakers, before we get all up in arms about who is or is not speaking at the convention.
So far, do we even know if Sarah Palin has ASKED to talk at the convention? Fox News says she has to ask permission of them to talk, and they didnt say she had yet. And there is nothing I can find on the internet that suggests Sarah sent a request to the convention committee for a speaking slot.
We can assume that all the people who actually ran for the office of President will get some sort of speaking slots. Beyond that, I dont know who I would expect to have show up at the convention to speak.”
Reposting because it bears repeating. I did a search, and the only source I could find for this info is from these BS artists.
Thank you!
In 2008 she gave 110%. She was subjected to baseless ridicule and she and her family were dragged through the mud. The GOP was silent or helping in doing the dragging.
As a result of her VP run, she was targeted in Alaska with unfounded lawsuits that nearly bankrupted her family. The GOP was silent.
She was accused of complicity in a mass murder and again the GOP was silent. When she tried to defend herself, she was accused of racism. The GOP was silent.
She was instrumental in the development of the TEA Party as a grassroots organization of conservatives. The GOP tried to co-opt it. She and the TEA Party were responsible for the 2010 Republican takeover of the House and in many statehouses across the country. The GOP establishment denied her credit and took credit themselves for the victory.
Gov. Palin endorsed Judge David Prosser in WI while the GOP was silent. He won. Gov. Palin went to Madison and confronted the union thugs while the GOP establishment hid. Gov. Palin supported Gov. Scott Walker and she endorsed Lt Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in WI recall elections while most of the GOP cowered in fear. They won.
She is endorsing Constitutional conservatives in 2012 and they are winning.
She is the most in-demand Republican speaker in the country and groups pay as much as $100,000 for a Palin speech.
Yet Mitt Romney and his campaign won’t let her speak at their convention for free. This is a slap in the face to all conservatives. We have been taken for granted in the Republican Party since 1988. Now they want to have our votes and insult us at the same time.
If Romney holds to this decision, conservatives should contact their delegates and tell them that bound or not, if they go Tampa and vote for Romney, just plan on staying there.
Oh, sure. Make Tampa suffer. ;)
You don’t ask to speak at a convention. You are invited. If she was invited, then she has to get permission from FoxNews as her appearance will be aired on other networks. They have already said to Newsweek that a request would be approved.
Did you mention the FIRST sentence? THE most important sentence?
“I checked the convention website, and it doesnt appear they have asked anybody to speak yet. I think we should probably wait until they announce the convention speakers, before we get all up in arms about who is or is not speaking at the convention.”
Has Sarah come out and endorsed announced her support for the candidate?
“The grassroots hates elites.”
Say it louder! Romney and his ilk can go to hades.
