I searched FR and found no notice of the recall, and sure have not seen it on the news.
I know I've been hit and miss due to a lot of health issues this past year, but we do watch the nightly news. And anything this big would have caught my attention because I keep Maalox in the house for occasional mild stomach upset/reflux when I eat something that disagrees with my stomach.
Went to buy a bottle of Maalox and tried several different stores and types, finally one of the gals at a local Kroger's said Maalox had been RECALLED, they were given no reason, just that it was RED flagged for recall.
Does any one else have any knowledge of this? It would have been common decency to let the public know a commonly taken stomach remedy had been pulled from the market.

Drink KoolAid instead.
Now that is asking for reflux...as if drinking the gop koolaid isn’t enough to give it to me.
Store brands just do not work as well and usually taste nasty to boot.
The public has the right to know when a product has been recalled and for what reason.
The FDA warning on Maalox Total Relief is not a recall, happened in January, and only applies to Maalox Total Relief, which people didn’t realize contained real dosage-sensitive pharmaceuticals (similar to aspirin).
Although I can find no official sources, people on forums I Googled are claiming Maalox is refurbishing factories, and has not been able to meet demand with its factories sidelined.
If you walk the medicine aisles you will notice lots of holes where name brand meds are supposed to be, plus an overabundance of store brands spaced out to fill in places where those name brands are supposed to live. Even things like Tylenol and Motrin, which were recalled several years ago, remain in short supply. I too would like to know why there have been so many of these recalls and shortages without having to don a tinfoil hat.
I don’t think a bureaucrat ever missed an opportunity to issue a press release.
I did find official notices from Maalox: Factory retooling in Nebraska.
Also affected: Benefibre, Triaminic, Excedrin
There was a Rolaids recall a year or more ago and it still has not reappeared in the stores I shop. That recall was due to a fungicide sprayed on wooden pallets which had been absorbed by the plastic bottles used for 100 count or higher amounts.
You might be able to Google and learn the reason for a Maalox recall.
We can’t find Pepcid or Excedrin. Pepcid had some kind of bottleing problem. ham other pills mixing in with them or something.

La Presse reports that with Maalox now unavailable in some stores, dedicated protesters are buying milk of magnesia for their first aid kits.
I highly recommend you do NOT take Maalox or any other antacids for that matter. They have a large amount of aluminum in them and there is abundant information out there that says it causes Parkinson’s, dementia, alzheimers, etc.
My father took Maalox for 30 years, every day for the most part, and he has Parkinson’s now.
There are VERY healthy ways to do away with heartburn. Drink plenty of water and take magnesium which is alkaline.
All I was looking for was plain old Maalox not the higher end totally different product Maalox Total Relief. Just something for a temporary upset because I ate something that I do not normally eat, that did not agree with my stomach.
I may buy 2 bottles a year for stuff like that.
If you need stronger stuff, then you need to see your Gastro Doc first, never know when constant reflux isn’t a more serious issue.
Lots of RX meds cause acid reflux, especially arthritis meds. And if left untreated can become a secondary health issue.
We are now taking pills to counteract other pills side effects. Which is why a lot of us take multiple RX’s especially seniors.
Or just eat a bunch of vegetables. Yes, it really works.
Wal-Mart pulled my favorite antacid, Rolaids, months ago. Rolaids are hard to find, if not impossible. Don’t know whassup.
I don’t take it very often, but it is reliable for an occasional use.
It was never meant to be taken daily, I don’t think.
Sounds like your dad had acid reflux or GERD.
ALL Osteo A, Arthritis meds cause acid reflux in a lot of people, mine went in the trash when it started that up. Rheumatologist threw his hands up in surrender. I’d rather put up with the joint pain.
I do 6-8 glasses of water per day, plus Magnesium, Potassium along with my Calcium.
