We have Saturday and Sunday worship services...our family usually goes on Saturday night because we like to sleep in on Sunday mornings. :) Our pastor last night spoke about America and how it has lost its moorings and is becoming rapidly anti-Christian like Europe.
He even had a missionary who ministers in Europe speak about how irreligious that continent has become, how roughly 80 to 90% of the people in his part of Europe don't worship AT ALL.
My pastor's sermon and the sad results of the recents SCOTUS decision weighed on my heart, and I have decided to try, until the election, to *fast* one meal a week (for me Wednesday breakfast will work out best, probably) to pray for this country. So I fell asleep Saturday night with these thoughts on my heart.
Roughly 37 minutes ago, as I write this, I awoke. Not unusual for me, as at my age I have to wake up once or twice in the night (ha ha)...but this time was different. The urge to pray for America (thanks no doubt to the sermon and my own yearnings for our nation to repent) is on my heart. So I did.
I stayed in bed, but put my heart and mind into action. First I prayed for this nation...for roughly 15 minutes I acknowledged to God my country's wandering away from His principles. I asked him to move the people of this nation back to Him...acknowledging our sinfulness.
I told him that I knew the two men right now who are most likely to be President next were men who did not know Him, yet one of them was at LEAST in the same moral sphere with God's people.
Even though Mr. Romney is not in a theological square with orthodox Christianity, he generally seems to reflect more family values and freedom-based living than does his opponent. God uses imperfect men and women (I need only look in the mirror) to accomplish His purposes on earth.
So I prayed for about 15 minutes for the Lord to turn this nation away from its current leadership and to the men and women who more closely reflect our heritage and His desires.
For the *next* 15 minutes, I prayed that God begin a revival WITH ME. How did I pray? I asked God that He help ME to see how I can share His Love and His Word with someone--someone who cannot or may not expect it. Now I don't mean a political persuasion per se...I mean the Love of Christ in a meaningful way.
Great Awakenings aren't political movements, but radical changes of peoples' HEARTS and SOULS toward the God of Heaven. They happen when Christ's followers embrace their mission of being lights to the world to make disciples of all men and "shine" before them. So for half the prayer I asked God to BEGIN with me.
I believe perhaps this is a call to other believers out there, so I am posting this very personal experience...not to "build myself" up, but to share what just happened this past hour as a possible call to any other Christ-followers out there who may want to join me in such a prayer activity.
Remember it doesn't begin and end with prayer--we pray and then work and share. Pray for the nation and our example, work for Christian values and the conservative cause in the political arena, and share the love of Christ with others so they can see we are different from the world.
I still will try to fast on Wednesday mornings--our country is in deep moral, spiritual and political decline and truly if any time is needed for revival in all three arenas that time is NOW.
November is coming soon: election day is 18 weeks from Tuesday. Can anyone, WILL anyone join me in prayer for this nation and our own witness?

God has turned his back on this nation.
Can you blame him? It started when we turned our back on GOD.
This is the approach that Christians used against fascism in Europe during the 1920s and 1930s. It did not work, laudable though the prayer is.
We are in decline because fascists have defined a Utopia and want to create “heaven on earth.” They will stop at nothing to achieve it and now have our nation by its neck. They create themselves as gods in their own heavenly realm.
The only way to stop them is to destroy their heaven and unseat them from their false thrones.Nothing elese will work. We can do it early by voting them out, or later, when it will cost millions of lives as it did in World War II.

I saw his post as more of a call to prayer, which is not the same as boasting about prayer. That said, yes, I also agree that God has lifted his hand of protection from this nation. Mitt Romney is no “family values” candidate. It is an illusion. We have taken to embracing evil, not just in our leaders, but in our daily lives as Americans.
I woke up a little while ago, in the dream my homestead was under attack and I had absolutely no weapons, this is about the fourth time I have had the same dream and in each one where I go searching in the gun safe or a secret hiding place for a weapon I find it gone.
This last dream left me with nothing more than a fake wooded crude copy of a shotgun, and the thugs had guns and knew I had none.
Then I woke up.
Its every single night for me.
In fact, I put a small cross here next to the computer screen to remind myself of who I am. I need to move it to an even more prominent place because I’m slipping lately.

Does this we as a people will be free again, but until then evil will fester. Call it by its name and point it out. Yes Pray for our Nation, personally the only way out that I see now is a miracle from God, but I do not think a miracle will happen to a people who reject God. Who will we be as a nation?
We need to be praying, fasting....and rallying together within our churches. It must be a united effort and a united trust in God.

Go to church and begin to talk with others. Seek God’s guidance about what actions to take. We MUST turn out the vote like never before!

There’s no doubt judgement is continuing to fall on America in various forms such as forest fires, tornadoes, destructive storms, drought and a thoroughly wicked Ahab in the White House to govern us.
The most salient sin of America is pressuring God’s people Israel to give away what little land they’ve occupied.

I read it. Wow! A dynamite article by Kyle Ann Shiver based on her review of Jonah Goldberg’s “Liberal Fascism”. We’ve taken the “never” out of “never again”!
I think you hit the nail square on its head. We lost his grace when Terri Schiavo died. I could sense it when she died. She was the final straw. This country has gone to hell ever since.

No, this Nation has from the highest level to the lowest level has not only turned their backs on God, they have figuratively spit in His face, figuratively shook their fist in His face , said that He is unwanted and not needed, and have dared Him to do anthing about it. He has merely taken them at their word.
