Boehner: If Supreme Court strikes down health care law, ‘there will be no spiking of the ball’

The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the constitutionality of President Barack Obama's health care law within the next week, and House Speaker John Boehner has issued a pre-emptive warning to fellow House Republicans if parts of the law are struck down: Forget about celebrating.

In a memo sent to his entire caucus Friday, Boehner warned members not to gloat over what most Republicans would see as a victory.

"[I]f the Court strikes down all or part of the president's health care law, there will be no spiking of the ball," Boehner wrote in the memo. "Republicans are focused on the economy—and under President Obama's policies, our economy is struggling. We will not celebrate at a time when millions of our fellow Americans remain out of work, the national debt has exceeded the size of our nation's economy, health costs continue to rise, and small businesses are struggling to hire."

I think that Boehner is just trying to say that we need to stay focused on the economy and jobs. It’s much the same with FF investigation. Don’t let these individual issues, no matter how large or important, obscure the single goal of getting Americans back to work by growing the economy.

Right now, the Obama administration is waiting with bated breath for the Supreme Court Ruling on Obamacare, no matter what the ruling, because it will take people’s focus off of the economy and jobs.

I’ll spike the ball if I feel like it. I’ll call radio shows and gloat. I’ll celebrate like it’s Independence Day 1776. Just for the record: Boehner is a jerk.

God willing, and the Supreme Court throws out DeathCare, I, for one, will be praying to God giving thanks for saving so many innocent American lives from those that want to destroy us. Kind of like my parents thanking God when Hitler was defeated. IMO, same thing.

Yes, the same thing.

Pretty flimsy reason—unless you’re a closet Dem, of course.

Or unless one happens to be an actual Conservative. And let's face it, nobody defending boner is a Conservative.

Dog's right. boner is a complete limpdicked assdrip. Conservatives need to vote Conservative, not GOPe.

Boehner is an idiot. The fact that the Constitution is correctly applied, defended and preserved is cause for great celebration.

It means the Liberal Fascists have LOST. It means that we will maintain individual freedoms.

YOU BET WE WILL SPIKE THE BALL!!!!

Boehner is just about the wimpiest speaker ever to occupy the Chair. He has power and refuses to use it, repeatedly, to the detriment of the whole country.

If the Supreme Court does overturn turn most or all of Obamacare as it should, then there damned well should be some Republican celebrating over the fact that the court will have overturned an unconstitutional expansion of federal power.

The public needs to hear early and often that Obamacare was unconstitutional and why. And Boehner needs, well, he needs to be somewhere else.

Wouldn’t you just love to see it?

The Supremes actually toss the whole stinking burrito and our side, United, All of them, sing Na(n)zi and hers the tune they deserve to have sung to them?

I am not worried about you spiking the ball, Bonehead,
because you don’t have any balls, to start with.

All “non-conservatism” from within the GOP (RINO Republicanism-including, but not limited to Mitt Romney, establishment Republicanism, elitist Republicanism, and some Libertarianism Republicanism) is causing greater harm to all of U.S. conservatism than the total amount of what harm comes from the Democrats!

Of course they won’t.

Republicans in Congress will probably dress in black and go in to mourning with the Democrats.

Why WOULDN’T one “spike the ball” upon the winning of a great battle? Make no mistake, this is Guadalcanal, Midway, D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge and Iwo Jima wrapped up in one package - either we win this one, or government will have NO limits on its authority.

Spike away!

And can we get rid of this nutless wonder next term, please?

Isn't that Nancy holding her BALLS in her hand? Betcha she thinks it is. And, no, she and the boys weren’t gloating...not at all.

Prayers of thankfulness and celebration go hand in hand with victories. It is ours to celebrate.

I call for a pledge from all Congressional Candidates that they will NOT vote Boehner as Speaker if re-elected.

I realize Michelle Bachmann isn’t perfect, but geez she’d be a hundred times better than weepy Boehner.
