This case is a frightening example of what can happen when a photographer encounters ignorant bullies with badges. According to the complaint filed in Federal Court, Nancy Genovese, a mother of three, was driving home on County Road 31 past Gabreski Airport in Suffolk County. Gabreski Airport displays a decorative helicopter shell by the roadway to the public, which is visible to all who pass by.

You want rude responses lady? Here goes ...
Anyone who hasn't heard of Southampton is spending too much time watching Celebrity Bingo and other TV bilge. Southampton is the summer play place of the NYC in-crowd. ("The Hamptons" You must have heard people talk about it. And no I'm not a Hamptons person. Are you really so uncurious as to not wonder what everyone is talking about?) Have you ever heard of Cape Cod or the "Vineyard"? They're on the east coast too. And we easterners have all heard of Palm Springs and Catalina Island. It's just part of being alive in the United States.
ML/NJ
Sorry, people just don’t know about a place called Southhampton.
It seems like to have heard about it they would have to see it on TV or celebrity shows, that is where they learn about Palm Springs.
Perhaps you'd like to explain why such thugs with badges to protect them are allowed on your force? What useful purpose to they serve if they are a continual threat to the city of lawsuits?
Wow, you sure get pissy easily. My response wasn’t rude to you. Is it that time of the month?
Well, if you don’t believe one word of it, I guess the rest of us shouldn’t. I assume you wouldn’t mind telling us why you don’t believe a WORD of this story.
This story also addresses the statement made frequently on this thread that if TSHTF the police will be on the side of the conservative and the righteous.
LEOs are on the side of the people who sign their paychecks.
I should’ve been clearer, I used the term “hardcore” as defined by the inferences by individuals who don’t think police should be able to raise their voice at someone or police should wait to be wounded before they ask to defend themselves.
You see, there is an ever growing portion of the population that believes they are entitled to not be under the same rules and laws as everyone else.
I don’t see these officers I speak of as truly hardcore, it just seems that an ever growing portion of the population doesn’t like to be told their doing something wrong especially if we have to speak louder than them.
A lot of delicate emotional flowers we have to tip toe around because everyone believes that ALL police officers are bad and none are good at their job and therefore just sue everybody.
Yep and they tend to fall into two categories:
1. Public Officials
2. LEOs (and other Union Scum)
Well, there is Hampton, VA, to consider. And the whole region of Virginia that is known as Hampton Roads.
Watch yer knot!
Yep, spot on. If a cop pulls you over or warns you that you’re breaking a law it’s always going to be for absolutely no reason and they are definitely always a swastika worshiping fascist. The only people whose sh!t stinks are the police scum. As a true patriot you should start taking care of the scum problem shouldn’t you. Pull up to the next squad car you see, THAT is the true face of evil in there. All police are scum zombie SS fascists. Not a one deserves any compassion. True patriotism (great Americans) is fighting back against the police scum.
I do think telling a woman find something in order to teach all right wingers and tea baggers a lesson is far over the line. That sort of statement by a cop is meant to incite and threaten, not just a failure to coddle.
I live in a small town in Hawaii, and often wave to the local cops, who mostly seem to be good guys. There are a few who seem to have an attitude without ever being in contact with me.
You know the type I am sure: the glare if someone is seen observing them while they are occupied with ticket writing, etc. That sort of non-verbal challenge and potential threat is not going to help if the same citizen drives by and sees said cop getting the hell beat out of him. Two way street I am sure you know.
I agree, this story strains credulity
Well, if so, then she and her 2 ADULT sons would be easily found to have been lying to local, state and Federal Law Enforcement Authorities (in and of itself a serious felonious offense) and set all this in motion in order to have grounds to sue?
Guess most of you skeptical individuals don't keep track of what is happening throughout our country on a daily basis by a sizeable number of out of control, jack-booted, thug, LEO?
Right of the top of my head, I give this horific experience a better than 80% chance of being accurate.
Time of course, will tell.
Well I have video of the fine upstanding LEOs in my town who are kicking in a door (without a warrant) and looting a downtown building because a Government official didn't like the guy who owns the place.
I will soon be giving an affidavit to the fact the lawyers have already got a copy of my security vids of the incident. Two of those LEOs are being charged with Trafficking in Drugs and the Third (the Chief) is under investigation by the State for theft in office and Drug Trafficking.
So you can shove your self righteous Bullshit where the sun don't shine!
BTW I was told by one of those LEOs I would have my door kicked in if I turned over the Videos. I reminded him I would invoke Ohio's Castle Doctrine if such were to occur and my Cameras would be covering the incident and would gladly turn the Vids over to the state!
Call me crazy and off my meds, I don’t feel safe with the government being in charge of my safety.
Thanks for the ping.
LOL - I thought this was Free Republic...now I find out it is English 101 :)
...one of us better stick to sailing...
Hey, I’m just trying to help a fellow Freeper. You do aspire to be better than the illiterate Obama generation, don’t you?
Actually, my command of the language has improved a great deal, since I first started reading here. Mostly, because FRiends have corrected my misusage and mistakes. Personally, I’ve always appreciated that.
I don’t point out others’ mistakes often enough to be a grammar Nazi, but every once in a while, I do try to help someone.
Glad you enjoyed the Angry Seas thread.
Some years ago I lived in Northern Ireland...three years, ‘78 - ‘81. One Monday evening I heard on the radio that a car bomb had gone off in Portadown, at the top of the town near one of my watering holes. I grabbed my camera, jumped into my car and headed to town.
There were police lines taped off and a quite a few people behind the lines, looking to see whatever could be seen. I began taking pictures. After a few minutes I found myself confronted from the other side of the police line by...police...4 or 5 of them. They asked me who I was, who I was working for, and why I was taking pictures.
I answered them - my name (and as I spoke they identified me as ‘American’), and told them my employer (a large multinational company with a plant there). And in response to the ‘why I was taking pictures’, I answered that it was for me and stated that it IS okay that I take pictures (I did not ask that it was okay).
I immediately got an affirmative response to that ‘statement’ and then to my surprise and to the surprise of those around me witnessing the encounter, I was invited INSIDE the police lines and given carte blanche to move about whereever i wanted to go and freely take pictures.
