Mary Matalin on Rush today - and is she off base? (Stunned)

FREEPER COMMENTS REQUESTED: Is it just me, or is Mary Matalin way off base today with her entire theme for the show (guest hosting for Rush). Now I normally like her work tremendously, but her idea that we should search for "virtue" in government and for "virtuous people" to be in government seems extremely naive.
The only virtue in government is its limit. We will never get a government full of virtuous people. By definition, government is power and virtuous people are not drawn to that. Our Founders knew that. This is why they insisted on LIMITED government. Wake up Mary!

Mary actually referred to CarVile as Serpent Head.

You dont like Mark Belling?
Hes a classic
Mark is more subdued and respectful to his guests than he is here in Milwaukee. He hung up on me last week. I guess that’s a badge of honor, in a way. :-)

The Founders designed a government that would work well when populated by virtuous men.

James and Mary are friends of Rush’s...which probably accounts for the “slip” today

MarkStein does a pretty good job. Mark Davis can suck it, as far as I’m concerned.

Whomever on this thread wrote the words:
The only virtuous thing about government is its limit
should come forth with his real name so that it can go down into a book of famous quotations.
Poor dear. In a book of just-missed-the-mark quotations. A limit on government is something that is antecedent to government. It is something the founders said lay in the people, that was expressed in the Declaration and the Constitution, and that the people should re-impose on government by whichever means are most appropriate when government, whether large or small, starts to trample their liberties.

RE :”
In fact, there are people posting here right now that were posting on threads barely a month ago that already threw Rush under the bus declaring they would never listen to him evah again!”
Wait till he tells us we have to get people we know to vote for Romney.
My Rush 24-7 is up at the end of the year and I cant see renewing it, If most of us skipped work like he does we would be toast.
Are you familiar with Mary Matalin? She's a regular on ABCs 'This Week'.
I seem to recall what you say, it was when it looked like he apologized. That all blew over, the MSM moved on to Zimmermann.

I have been under the impression for years that Rush is close personal friends with Mary and her husband, so it isn’t a surprise that he would have her “guest host” on his show.
Having said that, I have always found it very hard to listen to her.

It's hard to imagine him picking a more annoying sub than her.
In the old days he would just take off some Fridays and Walter Williams would sub and it would be a treat. He didn't take his audience for granted in those days.

All of you are making the same mistake and passing judgement that shows you are not up to speed. No one here is arguing against virtue in government. What we are saying, and with almost 100% agreement among the posters, is that Matalin’s droning on about how voters should try and search out only virtuous people to vote for is incredibly naive, it is incredibly boring and cumbersome and very preachy and almost elitist. What we need to do first is to limit government which does not require us being able to divine who is and who is not virtuous and who will and who will not stay virtuous.
I recommend you understand what is actually being discussed before jumping in next time. Just sayin....
