FREEPER COMMENTS REQUESTED: Is it just me, or is Mary Matalin way off base today with her entire theme for the show (guest hosting for Rush). Now I normally like her work tremendously, but her idea that we should search for "virtue" in government and for "virtuous people" to be in government seems extremely naive.
The only virtue in government is its limit. We will never get a government full of virtuous people. By definition, government is power and virtuous people are not drawn to that. Our Founders knew that. This is why they insisted on LIMITED government. Wake up Mary!
I shut her off after about five minutes. Could not stand her voice and her habit of talking quietly then louder then quite again. Annoying as hell. Will be on tomorrow with Rush back again.
She probably is drunk 24/7..because otherwise, how could you sleep with Serpent-head?
Mary is a deadly RINO.
Whether he wants to or not, Paul Ryan just made the case for electing Newt for president. Praised the policy success of the congress in the 90s via welfare reform.
Sorry, but much of this criticism IS merited, and it DOES reflect poorly on Rush. BTW, I like Mark Belling very much.
Must have been when she had the problem with her eye and was not seeing straight.
She’s a droning gasbag. As annoying to listen to as her husband.
Wow! I listened for the first 5 minutes myself and thought it was just me. Thanks for sharing in my pain. My first few thoughts were:
I agree, she seems like a nice woman, but she is also the epitome of E-GOP. RINOs play politics like its a badminton match. DEMS/LIBS play it like its a MMA bout to the death.
Frankly, I think the RINOs intentionally want to lose. I have no idea why, but there cant be any other reason for their stupid actions. With Mitt as the nominee, its a sure loss for the Rs in the fall. Cant I at least listen to Rush for a sliver of relief!?!?!?
I also could only listen to Miss Matalin for about five minutes.
I understand the previous posters' comments about the necessity of 'civic virtue,' or at least having virtuous people, in government. (James Carville, however, would not the first person that comes to mind.) Benjamin Franlkin's aphorism about having given Americans "a government if you can keep it" would be more appropriate here.
However, if I had wanted to hear "Delilah Does Daytime," I would have just turned on The Spew — oops, The View — in the background.
A few years ago Rush used to have Roger Hedgecock, former mayor of San Diego, and now syndicated radio talk show host, who did a good job of skewering the libs, fill in. For some reason he’s not on any more in favor of lame RINOs like MM.
Matalin.....worst sub ever!
Without the 14th and 17th Amendments, or better put, without the ‘penumbras and emanations’ from the 14th that wrecked the 10th, we wouldn’t be having this thread.
Whomever on this thread wrote the words:
“The only virtuous thing about government is its limit”
should come forth with his real name so that it can go down into a book of famous quotations.
There wasn’t much virtue during the 1700’s either. I’m reading the Federalist Papers right now, and the ENTIRE EXPERIMENT pivoted around the idea that people were other than virtuous.
When we gutted the 10th, which sadly ended up at the end only because it enumerated the limited powers in the previous nine, else it may have been the 0th, or 1st, the Experiment was at an end.
It has been downhill from the 14th and the 17th. I see more cool-headed thinking coming from the house these days than the Senate, which is a collection of narcisistic sociopaths.
No, Glenn is much more entertaining, and I am wondering if you ever post without mentioning Beck... cough*e-stalker*cough-
Romney is seen as virtuous because he has not been caught cheating on his wife. She’s setting up the challenge to the socialists’ meme that Obama is cool (gansta and foreign) and Romney is “white bread” American, boring. It a personality contest with liberals.
She’s setting the table to engage it: You don’t want radical foreign gangstas in the white hut; you want a virtuous guy like Romney in the White House.
“Mark Levin would be great.”
Has his own show..
You totally missed the point, including the fact that posters are running about 50 to 1 against you.
I forgot about Bellings and Williams when I posted that.
I hate Mark Davis. He soft sells RINOism at every turn and sound like he should be doing a morning show on an Adult Contemporary music station. His delivery is not suited to talk radio in the least. After listening to Matlin today, I hate her more than Davis, which I thought was impossible.
/facepalm
Seriously, if I had a twitter account, I’d tweet Rush too...SHE STINKS!
Stein is my favorite RUSH sub.
A good option next time would be Jeff Kuhner. He’s subbed for others and he’s great really blasts Obama
