Umm....she’s 6 and her momma ain’t going to allow anyone to discipline her at school and the school can’t kick her out.
Sux2bethem but they need to learn to take it and like it. That’s why they get paid the big bucks because they have to deal with crack babies.
The police. Sheesh. Mo-rons.
Your response is complete BS!
The principal could not restrain her - was probably prohibited by law from touching her - she had already injured the principal. How would you propose getting such an out of control child to this “safe place”? (BTW - the jail cell served that purpose admirably) Your idea of putting her in a corner is foolish...a kid who will stand in a corner is not tearing things off the wall and pulling over bookcases.
She was a danger to herself and others, laws prohibit the school authorities from physically restraining such a child, in most cases, and to be on the safe side most would/should call in the police - who do have the authority to physically restrain citizens. Putting her in cuffs was probably the safest thing for her.
You would probably be screaming bloody murder if the principal put her in your precious corner and in her uncontrolled rage she hurt herself or worse.
The solid kernel that should be taken from this story - the little girl was uninjured, her classmates were uninjured, the principal, however, was injured and school (and possibly personal) property damaged and destroyed. All in all, given the damage she was inflicting, a good outcome.
You pushed a shelf over onto the principal of your school???
At 6 they would not have called the police on me they would have called my mother. I personally would have preferred handcuffs and a jail cell to facing my mother’s wrath.
I hope you are being sarcastic in your response because otherwise I consider you a loon
What makes you think the brat will stay in the corner or respect any authority?
“Wonder what she does at home?”
Sheee...momma’ll whoop that azz if she tried that at home. But nobody else better do it.
Perhaps she was angry because her father stays at the office too long.
I was just pointing out that Crystal Mangum started out similarly.........This child has emotional problems and will probably end up the same way in a couple of decades..............
If a daughter acted out like that, I wouldn't have a problem with the police restraining her and putting her some place where she was not a danger to herself or anyone. Consider it a very scary "time out", hopefully one she would never forget.
And I'd be damned embarrassed to be the parent of such a child and wonder what I needed to change to prevent such a situation from occurring again rather than complaining about the police.
I’m hoping that when that child walked back into the classroom after 5 minutes; samiam1972 had the good sense to walk out. Or at least send the kid out again.
That easy for me to answer. I don't. But arrest and criminal charges should not be imposed on a 6 year old. There are a lot of things that can be done between your two choices of arrest versus excuse it and do nothing.
Or do you think little kids having trantrums should always be arrested?
I like your solution - however, I’m not sure the current climate would allow a principal to do this. I am almost certain her parents would be screaming about such tactics - regardless of their effectiveness - being used on their child.
Oh please get over yourself. You do not know the history of this youngster. She may be more destructive than anything you can imagine. Teachers and administrators are not allowed to put hands onto to a child so they can cause lots of destruction.
This kid probably is a trouble maker at home, at school, and everywhere she goes. Throwing a tantrum of that magnitude is indicative of other underlying problems (think FAS or even a crack baby).
The article does not address it but where were this girl’s parents??? When my folks got a call ( and you bet they did with five children) they were johnny on the spot and took care of it themselves. They did not need the police to intervene
If you want to keep your child out of handcuffs and jails then raise them in a manner where their actions won’t produce that result
LOL... Yeah... My ears were yanked so often I now look like a friggin elephant and while the principle never used the board of education on me he did tend to use it a lot on s few of my buddies. Of course... That was before the "minorities" and feminazis managed to make disciplining a child a crime.
For the record... I've never been thrown in jail. It's too bad parents and school administrators cannot administer discipline anymore.
We need to do away with the department of education, cps and all the other do gooder ya-hoos out there that think they know what's best for children.
JMHO
I agree she shows all the signs of ending up the same way - the article read like a little Crystal.
“I think we all did”
THINK AGAIN! I most certainly did not. The closest I ever came were the tantrums I threw at home...and I was promptly shown how inappropriate my actions were. I knew better than to try it at school.
You've led a very sheltered life. And there is nothing wrong with that. But in some school districts things much worse than this are common.
No, we did not. Nor did any of my classmates.
Well you have hauled out every single nasty stereotype you could find.
This is not racism. We do not know the history of this child in terms of acting out at school. Notice it is the aunties who comes and gets here.
This child may not come from the best home but the truth is that doesn’t mean teachers and principals have to be beat upon and have book shelves knock over onto them. School staff is not allowed to touch a chid these days. In days gone by this child (black or white) would have been in the office on suspension until the parents got there. If the child so much as blinked wrong she would have been given the old swat board.
We don’t allow that these days. The only recourse for public school staff is the police. I saw this happen on multiple occasions at the school next to my daughter’s. it was a school for emotionally disturbed children. They would kick the treaters blue. The rule was if blood was drawn or if another child was hurt then the police had to be called.
You haven’t been around public school much have you.
Report you to the mods? Why would I do that? Are you a troll? A “Look at me” attention whore who thinks what ever they post is worthy of Breaking News?
I don’t report people like you to the mods. I toy with them and tease them like a cat with a mouse.
Then I get bored and move on.
Really? Thenm teach your children how to behave
I think her behavior went way beyond a “tantrum.” But, I am not certain that she should be arrested and criminally charged. However, she needed to be removed from the principal’s office so that she would no longer destroy property and endanger others and potentially herself. The time out or quiet rooms have been phased out in Georgia schools, so there are two choices: her parents’ custody or jail.
