Pelosi Statement on Senate Vote Blocking the Buffett Rule April 16, 2012
Washington, D.C. Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Senate Republicans blocked the Buffett rule, a measure included in the House Democratic alternative to the Ryan Republican budget, which would restore fairness to our tax code, protect the Medicare guarantee, and reduce the deficit:
Tonight, Senate Republicans voted against the so-called Buffett rule which would restore fairness by fixing a stark tax inequity. Tomorrow, House Republicans will again pass their devastating budget that gives massive tax breaks to millionaires and ends the Medicare guarantee. Later this week, House Republicans will act to benefit their special interest friends by putting forward legislation that adds $46 billion to the deficit and does not require the creation of one single job.
Once again, Republicans are giving away billions of dollars to millionaires at the expense of middle class Americans.
Democrats will continue to work to create jobs, strengthen small businesses, and bolster America's middle class, while supporting a balanced approach to reduce the deficit.

BelegStrongbow: "The woman is a plague." Yes, but she did manage to ram through a lot of virulent legislation in her short stint as speaker. She actually encouraged or forced members of her party to stick together and advance the agenda even though it cost many of them, and her, their jobs. Say what you will about the Pelosi Plague, but she's constantly out there speaking for her side. Where, oh where, are our leaders? I'd love to have a conservative politician with even half the energy and persistence of Nancy. No. We're stuck with totally uninspiring leaders like Boehner, Mitch McConnell, and...Mitt Romney. Gah!

The tax increase they are talking about would cover the interest on the national debt for three days.
And it wouldn't begin to cover the Ubama's vacation expenses.

The money that the buffett rule would bring into the Treasury per year, would pay the interest on the National Debt... for one day.

When the debt is in the trillions, Pelosi is complaining about billions.

“How did the Senate Republicans block the Democrat controlled senate?”
Makes for “good” press for the lyin’ msm tomorrow. They will simply quote her without the rest of the story being that dems control the Senate. The low lifes that vote for hussein have no idea.

You are right. They are all fine gentlemen. It is good to have a Bradley or a Clark, you do well with a few good McAuliffes but by George, how are you gonna win the war without Patton??
I used to think Pat Buchanan could fill that bill. His ship has sailed but that kind of disciplined verbal ICBM armament is what we need. It isn’t enough that Rush, et al, are still trying to light fires. There must be a politician who takes up the cudgel.
Another I used to wonder about was Newt. Then he sat on the couch. Yuck. Right amount of fire, but not disciplined in his mind.
And so on. *sigh*

You talk about a classic case of projection (but with dems it is most likely trillions).
