A labor protest at a historic Seattle bakery turned violent Saturday and police were called when demonstrators clashed with patrons outside. More than 80 protestors from the Seattle Solidarity Network, also known as SeaSol, picketed outside of Borracchini's Bakery in the Rainier Valley as part of a planned protest against the owner, Remo Borracchini.
Hundreds of customers arrived in advance of the protest and launched a counter demonstration. Supporters wore red, white and green ribbons in honor of the bakery's Italian roots.
Fights broke out among patrons and protestors after a customer offered cookies to one of the demonstrators, a bakery employee said. According to witnesses, a female member of SeaSol hit the plate of cookies out of his hands then slapped him during an argument, and the man pushed her to the ground.
A spokesperson for SeaSol said the woman was punched in the face, but KIRO-FM was not able to corroborate that statement. She received medical attention at the scene, but no arrests were made.
Seattle Solidarity launched a campaign against the bakery after a former employee claimed she was not allowed to take breaks during her nine years with the business. They have threatened to increase their involvement if the bakery does not pay her $7,901. The group has provided three letters they say are from former employees who describe a similar work environment.
Remo Borracchini and current employees have denied the group's accusations. A store manager showed KIRO-FM surveillance video of the employee taking breaks.
Yes, the barbarians have always been there. They only become a threat when civilization becomes decadent.
You’re right of course. There is quite a distinction between the two. I was hiking in the Cuyahoga Valley Reservation last Spring, searching for Morels, when I came upon the largest Tom I’ve ever seen! He was perched on the end of a log sticking out over a deep, steep gully. Was quite surprised he didn’t notice me. Sat and watched him for 15 minutes, before he took off down into the gully where his girls were. Quite a sight! Huge bird! Wingspan well over 6 feet easy.
Cookies. At last. Something worth fighting about.

Dori wants YOUR help supporting a local bakery
I’ve decided it’s time to fight back against this Communist organization that is trying to disrupt a family run business that has been providing jobs and treats and memories in the Rainier Valley for 90 years.

Hmm ~ no idea. I thought I understood the rules at http://americanrestroom.org/gov/ohsa/index.htm pretty well. Frankly if this guy has been piddling around with people’s access to the toilet or urinal I’m afraid I’m not interested in eating his baked goods unless they are thoroughly washable with soap!
They’re hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!
It's still wise to find out the truth of the situation ~ then you can call the cops on the customer, or I suppose lay off the employee, although someone you've had around 9 years probably is due a little consideration anyway.
BTW, where are the videos? The one little blip provided on the news show didn’t identify her or whatever.
I just noticed that too.
I am sure there have to be more if they have a camera there. Someone could acquire thebakerys’ email and ask?
But not killing. That's for sneakers.

Turkey: YOU 2 AND WHAT FREAKING ARMY??!!!
Turkeys, geese and swan are the meanest animals on earth!
They are demonstrating because someone wasn’t allowed to steal?
Agree but who is to say he did or didn’t give said employee such multiple chances.... Good point yet.....:o)
Wait an see... Stay safe !
You realize that washington is basically a red state with seattle and olympia skewing it blue? Further, this state is armed to the teeth, including a large amount of concealed carry? the only folks getting drug out of houses are libs maybe...
OF COURSE it is... surely you've heard of "affirmative action"?
You have to remember you are taking the word of a radial leftist about not being given breaks. She worked there for nine years. That’s a long time to work for an abusive employer, don’t you think? Without documentation and/or multiple witnesses, I don’t believe anything leftists say.
I totally agree that employees are due breaks. I just doubt the word of a radical leftist.
