House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday evening that the 2010 healthcare law, which prompted complaints from conservatives that Democrats far exceeded their constitutional authority, actually helps people meet the goal outlined in the Declaration of Independence, which promotes mankind's rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Speaking on the House floor, Pelosi called on her colleagues to remember "what our founders put forth in our founding documents, which is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And that is exactly what the Affordable Care Act helps to guarantee."

Hey, Mrs. Potato Head, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit if Happiness” is in the Declaration of Independence, not the constitution. The is no legal guarantee for those three. If there were you would be long gone.

It's not meant to be truth. In fact, it's meant to be obviously wrong. You're looking at the use of cognitive dissonance as a control methodology. Followers are denied any trace of reasonable deniability, by being forced to support something that is patently stupid and outrageous. Why? Enforced loyalty. I don't know who said what where in the above but first of all the Declaration of Independence doesn't "promote" anything. What it does is state, or aver, it does not 'promote'. So either way someone involved is a moron. Either the writer or San Fran Nan needs a refresher course in reading comprehension.
That taken care of, the second paragraph of the 'DOI' starts off as follows. And natch, good ole Nan left OUT a few salient points.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. (and here's an important part Nan) That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed...Got the above Nan? Our Rights come from our Creator as in GOD. They do not come from government. And most of all these rights of ours are "unalienable" . Which basically means in ENGLISH that no man (human or gubmint) can take them away (Nan, for your own edification you better look that one up). Also note that it states that Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are only SOME of our Rights as it states that they are 'among' other and numerous God Given Rights we have.
And I knooooow you love the last part, about Government and your job in relation to The Peoples Rights. Which is solely to "Secure Them" - period. YOU and your fellow commieRATS cannot infringe on them, take them away, and / or - Create NEW Rights. As we the people have NOT 'granted you' (quaint idea, ain't it) any powers to do so.
Oh. In case you don't know Nan, the Declaration of Independence is not Law. That would be the Constitution Of The United States which delineates the limited powers granted to the Federal Government (aka: YOU) by the people. And forcing, compelling, ordering, dictating, mandating, etc., that We The People MUST purchase ANY product, good, or service, is NOT one of your limited powers.
