President Barack Obama's 13-year-old daughter, Malia Ann Obama, will be spending her spring break in the Mexican city of Oaxaca with 12 friends and 25 Secret Service agents.
The young tourists will be in a downtown hotel in the city known for its colonial architecture and native traditions, reported a state police official.
President Barack Obamas 13-year-old daughter, Malia Ann Obama, will be spending her springbreak in the Mexican city of Oaxaca with 12 friends and 25 Secret Service agents.
"We are here to block access to the hotel by other people and escort the vehicles that are carrying the visitors to tourism sites," the police official told the AFP under the condition of anonymity.
Along with the 25 secret service agents, Obama and her friends will protected by a slew of Mexican police officers, according to the AFP.
The group arrived in Oaxaca on Saturday and reportedly visited the architectural site of Mitla. They also visited the tree of El Tule, believed to be approximately one thousand years old. The group also plans to travel to Monte Alban, which is known for its archeological research as well as the artisan sections of the city.
It does not say how they got there.
Good question. Also, did the 12 friends pay their own way, or did we pick up the tab for them as well?
Another question: If Obama is legitimately concerned about our own economy, why aren't they vacationing in the U.S.? What kind of message does this send?
GOOD QUESTION!
Didn’t she just get back from a ski trip? Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. I don’t know about others but we are doing everything we can to keep our heads above water. This is a slap in the taxpayers face. These people are acting like they hit the lottery.
And Sasha’s full given name is Natasha.
And Sasha’s full given name is Natasha.
Part of it IS intentional in-your-face-ness.
Absolutely. Reparations.
How much is this costing my grandson?
We have become Obamas slaves and don’t think for one minute that racist bastard doesn’t think this way.
This is appalling!! Why is a 13 year-old going to Mexico (presumably without parental supervision!) and why is this occurring on OUR dime!!!
I cannot control my outrage at the trailer trash in the WH much longer!!!
It’s a Sidwell Friends school trip. The previous thread got yanked when pictures were posted followed by demeaning comments about her.
I tried but it just wasn’t coming together.
Much too delicate a subject I guess.
All my comments self censored.
Ok, just one, in agreement with a previous, what in H, E, double pickup sticks is a 13 year old doing on a spring break? Further agreement with where’s the parent, even more agreement with who’s paying, Mexico when the US is suffering, and mostly just when you think there are no more surprises, B I N G O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey! Black democrat politicians are ENTITLED to “live large” on the taxpayer dime because of “the legacy of slavery in America”.
To criticize them for it is “racist”!
Keep things in perspective people. This is an organized, supervised school trip that ALL of the middle schoolers in the school go on the week before spring break (it’s supposedly one of the programs that rich parents like about that school). All the kids pay their own way, and they’ve gone to other countries (including England and Russia) in the past.
The only travesties here are that she goes to a school that sends all of their kids to other counties on school trips and the fact that we’re footing the bill for 25 secret service guys.
google sidwell friends school minimester for more info.
I understand the school-sponsored nature of the trip.
What I don’t understand is how a well-respected school could justify sending a group of its students into a drug-infested and violent country. I know native Mexicans (here legally, naturalized citizens) who won’t go back, even to visit family. It’s just too dangerous.
Did Malia fly commercial for her school trip? Who are the chaperones?
Funny,
I don’t remember Amy Carter, the Bush girls, or even Chelsea Clinton doing stuff like this.
I don’t think this is going to go over too well.
