I understand the school-sponsored nature of the trip.

What I don’t understand is how a well-respected school could justify sending a group of its students into a drug-infested and violent country. I know native Mexicans (here legally, naturalized citizens) who won’t go back, even to visit family. It’s just too dangerous.

Oh, I agree with that part whole-heartedly. So what, that small specific part of mexico is slightly less dangerous to send a class of kids to? Then again, they know wherever they send the kids this year, they’re going to have a ton of ss guys - maybe they chose such a dangerous area on purpose?
