FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Remember the Good Old Days? Sock Hops? Drive-in Movies? Buddy Holly? Or other things that made it Fabulous? You know, before cellphones? Come on in and share your memories. Or take a trip back in time.
Tonight well check out 1952. Despite the war in Korea Americans considered themselves to be prospering with average worker earning $3,400 per year, a college teacher could expect to earn $5,100 per year.
Three out of 5 families owned a car, 2 out of 3 families now had a telephone, 1 in 3 homes had a television. Average Cost of new house $9.050.00 Average wages per year $3,850.00 Average Cost of a new car $1,700.00 Fast Food restaurants were growing in popularity, Many more cars in America were now fitted with automatic gearboxes and gas cost 25 cents per gallon. the scourge of Polio hit many thousands of families ( 50,000 estimated )
Number One Hit March 9 May 10 1952 ~ Kay Starr - Wheel of Fortune ~ (click graphic) Arrowhead was born
Remember, the Canteen is a family friendly place. We welcome the military, our allies, and their families. Continued prayers for the success and completion of your mission. Prayers for your safe return home.

Afternoon, beachie!
I remember those days of very early arising. Don't miss them at all. :)
You're doing a great job in the Canteen and such a fun theme for us 'mature' folks! lol

Thanks for the prayers, guys. No surgery after all. After looking at her MRI, the doc decided to try cortisone and therapy first. Her rotator cuff has a huge tear and surgery would be extensive.

well, the good news is that it only hurts when she raises her arm...and the bad news is that it’s her right arm and she’s right handed.
I hope the therapy works, too! Thanks for the prayers!

Seems like everywhere other than here and Alaska are celebrating the early advent of spring. We're headed for a substantial winter storm here this weekend, with snow levels dropping to 3500'. I've learned over the years to never plant until after Easter, because we will have a freeze again before that weekend.

Yeah, I was born in 1951 and just celebrated my 29th birthday for the 10th year in a row :=)
But you're right, things weren't as complicated back then; I remember living in Seattle, as a 4-5 year old, wandering far and wide with friends and not having to worry of being kidnapped or worse, those days are gone.
Have a great weekend!

because we will have a freeze again before that weekend. I've been off work & running errands all day & it is gorgeous outside!!!
Today the A/C....tomorrow the heater! LOL
Oh.....& in other outstanding news I filled up the Xterra for only $2.89 per gallon! Happy dance!:)
