Show of force: Hundreds of fighter jets paraded in South Korea as US displays its military might
Kim Jong-un, take note.
After the North Korean leader made his first visit to the tense demilitarised border and Pyongyang agreed to freeze its nuclear weapons programme, United States and Republic of Korea aircraft joined forces in this huge display of F-16 Fighting Falcons.
As these pictures from Kunsan Air Base show, hundreds of the jet fighters stretched as far as the eye could see.
Formidable: Row after row of F-16 Fighting Falcons fills the airstrip in a show of force at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea
At the ready: The display was part of a series of joint military exercises by U.S. and Republic of Korea forces
North Korea has accused the U.S. and South Korea of preparing for a northward invasion, but the allies insist the exercises are merely defensive drills.
The warplanes were part of a joint exercise earlier this month combining the 35th and 80th Fighter Squadrons from the 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan Air Base, ROK; the 421st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron from the 388th FW at Hill Air Force Base, Utah; and the 55th EFS from the 20th FW at Shaw.

Hey!! Dispurse those babies! Didn’t Pearl Harbor teach you anything!!!
Ping.
Rows of Sitting Ducks is not a good idea at all.
F-16 ping.
That is a LOT of F16s!
Photoshopped
LOL — when we see an F-16 we all immediately think of JJ!
I still think the F-16 will never be bested by any aircraft from a price/performance perspective. The mission creep on the F-35 has priced that flying anvil out of any reasonable market.
If that is even a real picture, I count perhaps 48 aircraft. Possibly lined up only for one-time publicity pictures.
Actually, I only counted 52. Not exactly hundreds.
I count about 50 from the pictures provided.

You took the words right out of my mouth.I was just thinking that I hoped all of those falcons were photoshopped because that Crazy sob up north would only have to launch a nuke and wipe out the 8th Tactical Fighter wing.
That would be a big problem.
I hope they didn’t leave them like that for long - talk about a tempting target for a bomber
The F16s are armed and ready to take off, not like Pearl Harbor.
You missed the humor all the way. Geeze.
young kim knows that doing that would result in his house
becoming a smoking tomb.
Isn’t it a little early for a May-Day celebration, Premier Obama?
>>Actually, I only counted 52. Not exactly hundreds.<<
I don’t even own one yet, so 50+ looks like a lot to me.
That is four squadrons. Each squadron at 12 aircraft a piece so a total of 48 Falcons. This is a total photo op and nothing else. The aircraft are useless on a runway that close together and you would want to separate them ASAP as they are a huge target.
Since the U.S. has over 1,200 Falcon’s in our inventory even after reductions a group of 48 is not really that impressive except for a photo op like this.
Interesting to see though.
