HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) An illegal immigrant from Guatemala will be able to collect $750,000 he won from a lottery ticket he purchased in 2010.
A Houston County Superior Court jury ruled in 27-year-old Tony Cua-Tocs favor Thursday that he was the rightful owner of the Jingle Jumbo Bucks lottery ticket, according to the Macon Telegraph.
Cua-Toc, who entered the country illegally in 2000, claimed that the business owner he worked for, Erick Cervantes, claimed the winning lottery ticket for him and ended up keeping the money, according to the paper.

So now deport him to Squatemala, where he can now live like a king!
Why shouldn’t he collect?
If he was a tourist from Great Britain here on holiday would he have a problem collecting?
It’s great to have people here who have a lot of money, even if illegal. They should make him a citizen now.
Good for him.
If he bought the ticket and won, he should get the prize.
I’m sure he’ll buy a nice home in Guadalupe.
Good. NOW deport him with his winnings.
No reason...
...other than that he gave the ticket to someone else to collect for him which gave rise to the dispute.
The question wasn’t whether he could legally collect, but if his former boss stole it from him or not.
I wonder what Social Security Number he will use to pay the taxes.
What kind of name is “Cua-Toc”? He must be a Mayan or some type of Indian. I doubt if he can speak English or Spanish. We better start printing ballots in whatever language he speaks. /s
Which ever one the IRS makes up so that he can immorally contribute to Social Security and the other government ponzi schemes.
Sounds like his boss really tried to hose him. I hope he enjoys whatever fraction of his $750k Uncle Sam lets him keep...
...in Guatemala, after a stint in Federal prison for whatever identify fraud he may have committed.

Reminds me of a Married with Children episode where Al Bundy is watching an Illinois lottery drawing, and they congratulate “our million-dollar winner, Habib Ramasamalanamapiddapon. And imagine, after only two days in the country!”
(BTW, that line has been cut out of syndicated reruns of the show.)
It will be delivered by the INS, if he still wants it.
They way I read the story illegal Tony cho-chok-wok-bock-clock bought a lottery ticket, won the lottery, and then had his employer Eric Cervantas collect the $750,000 for him. Well Mr. Cervantas said, tough luck padre and kept all the enchiladas for himself. So Tony sues and gets a judgment against Mr. Cervantas. (Hopefully Mr. Cervantas has already blew it all and is penniless so Tony can’t collect on the judgment and gets sent back to Honduras wihout a penny)
If I were a criminal defense attorney, I would be using this as precedent to keep my clients from having their assets confiscated.
Well First he has to pay the taxes. Then he should be billed for any cost incurred by the tax payer why he has been here. And then he can be shipped back to his home country.
Because the law says you need to be here legally. And a tourist is here legally. Not a hard concept.
Winning the lottery jackpots Americans just won’t win.
(Thanks El presidente Jorge Bush for that line. It is the gift that keeps on giving, you jerkass.)
The only argument against giving an illegal a legally won prize is that if he wasn’t in the country illegally, the jackpot would have eventually gone to someone here in the USA legally. That’s the only argument, and it is kind of a week one. I’m sure that illegals are the mainstay of more than one lottery operation. At least in this way they are adding to the California education funding from their under-the-table incomes.
