Why shouldn’t he collect?

If he was a tourist from Great Britain here on holiday would he have a problem collecting?

It’s great to have people here who have a lot of money, even if illegal. They should make him a citizen now.

Good for him.

If he bought the ticket and won, he should get the prize.
I’m sure he’ll buy a nice home in Guadalupe.

What kind of name is “Cua-Toc”? He must be a Mayan or some type of Indian. I doubt if he can speak English or Spanish. We better start printing ballots in whatever language he speaks. /s

Sounds like his boss really tried to hose him. I hope he enjoys whatever fraction of his $750k Uncle Sam lets him keep...

...in Guatemala, after a stint in Federal prison for whatever identify fraud he may have committed.

Reminds me of a Married with Children episode where Al Bundy is watching an Illinois lottery drawing, and they congratulate “our million-dollar winner, Habib Ramasamalanamapiddapon. And imagine, after only two days in the country!”

(BTW, that line has been cut out of syndicated reruns of the show.)

They way I read the story illegal Tony cho-chok-wok-bock-clock bought a lottery ticket, won the lottery, and then had his employer Eric Cervantas collect the $750,000 for him. Well Mr. Cervantas said, tough luck padre and kept all the enchiladas for himself. So Tony sues and gets a judgment against Mr. Cervantas. (Hopefully Mr. Cervantas has already blew it all and is penniless so Tony can’t collect on the judgment and gets sent back to Honduras wihout a penny)

Uhmmmm,,,,,does this mean that drug dealers will get to keep the spoils of their crimes? How about bank robbers? Do they get to keep their riches once they get out of prison? This ticket was most likely purchased with funds he obtained from illegal employment or welfare scams. IOW, I'll gotten gains.

If I were a criminal defense attorney, I would be using this as precedent to keep my clients from having their assets confiscated.

Well First he has to pay the taxes. Then he should be billed for any cost incurred by the tax payer why he has been here. And then he can be shipped back to his home country.

Winning the lottery jackpots Americans just won’t win.

(Thanks El presidente Jorge Bush for that line. It is the gift that keeps on giving, you jerkass.)

The only argument against giving an illegal a legally won prize is that if he wasn’t in the country illegally, the jackpot would have eventually gone to someone here in the USA legally. That’s the only argument, and it is kind of a week one. I’m sure that illegals are the mainstay of more than one lottery operation. At least in this way they are adding to the California education funding from their under-the-table incomes.

Illegal Immigrant Allowed To Collect Winning $750,000 Lottery Ticket

I am glad to see justice done. Not all a*****es are illegals. I just wish this slimeball Cervantes would get some jail time in addition to the whopping fine.

As for Cua-Toc, he absolutly should be deported ASAP. Most people might think he would be eager to "live like a king," I see the opposite. An extreme case of "careful what you wish for."

Back in his hell hole country, his life expectancy would be severely curtailed... It's a cultural thing.

Large numbers of Iraqis resettled in El Cajon, CA not finding work

Posted by acorcoran on March 5, 2012

Gee, I wonder why. Just one more in a long list of stories about the large number of Iraqis being resettled in the US and then not finding employment.

From Prospect Journal:

When these refugees arrive in the country, the U.S. federal government provides them with a monthly stipend of around $800 to help them get situated. However, the payments expire after eight months, which is assumed to be an adequate amount of time to resettle, gain employment, and assimilate into the local community. Not surprisingly, this does not happen in most cases. Instead, refugees become increasingly reliant on non-profit organizations like the International Rescue Committee and Catholic Charities to provide assistance in a number of tasks ranging from the complicated immigration process to filing online job applications in the service sector. [The writer doesn’t know that these two supposed non-profits are actually the government contractors responsible for the resettlement in the first place. They are being paid by the federal government to assist the refugees-—ed]

The quest for employment can be long and defeating. Of the few employers that are hiring in the midst of an economic downturn, few are hiring middle-aged refugees without a native grasp of the English language or experience in the American workforce. Yalda has filed numerous online and in-person job applications, but has yet to receive a follow-up call from a single employer. The refugees that do gain employment usually find work in the low-level service industry, which primarily consists of jobs in the hotel, retail, and manual labor sectors. These industries offer poor wages and poor prospects for job mobility.

What! No meat-packers in El Cajon. By the way, disgruntled Iraqis have gone home to Iraq. It is possible to do. As a matter of fact, I’ve advocated that the US State Department fly them home (or to the Middle East somewhere) if they are unhappy and on welfare here. In fact, it wouldn’t be unprecedented. Remember in 1999 we brought about 15,000 unhappy Kosovars here and shipped about 10,000 back the following year, here.

The price of the return airline ticket would sure be less costly to the taxpayers in the long run.

Hey, I went online looking for a way to buy a Georgia lottery ticket if a person lives in another state. No such luck. I read they only sell them at Georgia retailers to Georgia residents.

So, I can’t even buy a Georgia lottery ticket, but this illegal alien gets a pile o’goodies? What gives here?
