On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his companys website declaring that Carbonite had decided to withdraw advertising from Rush Limbaughs radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse:
Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.
However, it hasnt done much to contribute to his companys stock price. Since the market opened on Monday through its close today, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has plummeted nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points. It was also one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ on Tuesday.

The market is at work, but I always thought the stock was a dog. Just shows how dependent it was on Limbaugh for exposure.

It is beyond my comprehension how one company could store all that info indefinitely.

This is the past 6 months of Carbonite (CARB). It’s been going down for awhile, the latest bit with their abandoning Rush didn’t help. But, the trend has been established for awhile before this whole fiasco.

I have spent a lot of money with Proflowers over the past 20 sending items to relatives in the USA. I sent them a note last night that I was not going to use them if they promoted leftist politics. All I received was a two sentence reply thanking me for my feedback. I encourage anyone who has used Proflowers to send them a note. You can do them by using the “contact” and customer service. If they insist on a order number, even if checking “other”, you can simply put in “none” and it will go through.

Limbaugh or not, the trouble for Carbonite is that its services are easily duplicated, yet it continues to charge an “only game in town” high price. Regardless of the recent kerfuffle, folks have figured out they can get the same sort of backup service for far less money.

"ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse: A more civil discourse??? So people like Maher, Shultz, Matthews, Malloy, etc - these people are the epitome of civility according to him.

It doesn’t look like, if they crawled back to Limbaugh, the Carbonite stock would be “back up”.
