Rally for Rush (Carbonite CEO tied to MoveOn.org: time for conservatives to fight blacklisting?)
The American Spectator ^ | March 5, 2012 | Jeffery Lord

Posted on 03/05/2012 3:25:36 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

................• Carbonite: OK. Now we'll talk Carbonite. And about Mr. McLaughlin of Sleep Number. And two of the co-founders of Legal Zoom.

Carbonite's statement was especially and curiously unctuous, its withdrawal of sponsorship coming as it did after Rush's apology. Here is Carbonite's CEO David Friend:

...Now. Carbonite really deserves some special attention......................

MoveOn.org, America Coming Together and Democracy for America, all three listed here as George Soros funded groups, the latter set up by Howard Dean. Texans for Truth also drew Mr. Friend's support. This group, according to Wikipedia, was set up by MoveOn.org spin-off Drive Democracy.org in 2004. Why? To… wait for it… challenge then-President Bush's service in the Texas National Guard. The precise same stunt for which CBS fired Dan Rather after documents were discovered to have been forged. The Bush-Cheney campaign said of Texans for Truth that it was "a smear group launching baseless attacks on behalf of John Kerry's campaign that will be rejected by the American people." They were. But that didn't quench Mr. Friend's affection for either the smear campaign or supporting leftist candidates such as Howard Dean, and John Kerry.

And get a load of this. Take a look right here at Ed "Laura Ingraham is a slut" Schultz's site for his radio show. Who is listed as a Schultz sponsor? That's right: Carbonite. Like Rush Limbaugh, Ed Schultz apologized. The difference? If Rush uses the word "slut" to illustrate the absurdity of the left-wing Sandra Fluke's views -- David Friend is outraged. But when Ed Schultz refers in hostile fashion out of the blue to conservative and Catholic Laura Ingraham as a "slut" -- hey, no big deal for Carbonite......

I was actually a bit bummed he apologized.

And now I heard at the top of the hour that she rejected it.

Two questions I’d appreciate some input:

1. Why would anyone take their most private financial, etc information and send it to be archived at a private site, that we know are never really private sites. Administrators will have access to your personal information - Carbonite?

2. Why too do people voluntarily expose their life, friends, politics, timeline, photographs to a company that was intentionally established to market their members lives to other companies - Facebook?

Americans who fought tooth and nail to oppose Government ID cards, are now following the pied pipers of Facebook and their media partners to enthusiastically give up everything and more forever.

Greetings EBH:

Laughed out loud when the ABCsNooze break infochick breathlessly announced AO(hel)L would not advertise on Rush Limbaugh Show. AO(hel)L/HUffiecompost advertising on Rush? Too funny. Although at the DUmp, they’re probably signing up for AO(hel)L now.

Cheers,
OLA

Hi!

Both are being used right now; #RallyForRush and #StandForRush. I’m tweeting both!

#RallyforRush is the bigger one.

Just checked. Wow! #RallyforRush is really coming on strong now.

If you’re on Twitter be sure to tweet back to the liberals on #BoycottRush and #CrushRush because they’re doing it on #RallyforRush...

Example: RT @thatsoftwareguy: Yes, let’s all #RallyforRush. Because rich old men need the freedom to call women “sluts” and “prostitutes.” Nothing shameful there. #tcot

I tweeted: #BoycottRush Because Christians need to be forced to PAY for a Feminist’s sexual activities—we have no right to say no #StandforRush

I was there listening and I respectfully disagree with you. First of all we are battling satan and he plays by NO RULES. If you are going to do battle with an enemy then you:

1) Never apologize
2) Never retreat... always advance
3) Never show mercy to evil

steny hoyer and nancy pelosi are now demanding that fluck sue Rush... and she will... and that leftist female lawyer that brought out all of the bimbos against Cain will likely represent her. By apologizing... Rush may have pleased some like yourself... but he did nothing to appease the left or this fluck woman and the left will go at him and us with even more vicious attacks. He said nothing that needed an apology and he should be taken to task for not vetting his own advertisers. carbonite is run by a soros loving moveondotorg philanthropist. Maybe Rush apologized due the the loss of ad revenue... if so... what does that make Rush?

During the Clinton years we were subjected to the objectionable concept that women were to be treated like sluts. The media and the White House orchestrated it that way. They demonized Jennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky as sluts. At the time, Rush went after them for doing this because he thought that their treatment of these women was reprehensible. We had a predator in the White House who had diminished the discourse down to the gutter level.

By calling Fluke a slut, Rush has reduced himself to their level. He pulled the conversation away from the fact that Obamacare has trampled on religious liberty and instead directed a personal attack at another. He played by the Left’s rules. And he lost on the moral argument because he pulled the attention away from the issue at hand and made it about his use of language.

Most right-thinking people would tell two children NOT to call each other names because it isn’t the kind thing to do. When the discussion is reduced to name calling no one pays attention to facts anymore, they only listen to the emotions between the two parties. Rush made this personal when he attacked her using the word “slut”. He dropped the main theme of the argument and lost, big time.

The fact that you still think this is about capitulation doesn’t matter. What matters is the perception. The perception is Rush is a bastard and the reaction was swift and painful, so the media won this round.

Thus, he apologized.

The media revels whenever Conservatives act like the heartless bastards that the media accuses Conservatives of being. He walked into a trap and lost. He only has himself to blame. And he apologized, fixing the error.

I believe he is contrite.

Let’s return to the true issue of the attack against religious liberty.

My Carbonite service is due for renewal in 30 days and I'm not buying. Further I'm going to send them a letter explaining that fact to them. I don't think anyone will sign up for their service because of dropping Rush, but they most certainly are going to loose one.

Mine is due in November. I removed my credit card info so I won't be automatically billed. In the meantime I'm thinking of backup up a bunch of worthless photos and leaving them on there as long as possible.

I also sent them an email congratulating them on such a stupid business decision.

We just see things differently. The left, THEIR media and at least 45% of Americans hate us... they hate Rush and will not stop until they destroy us all. Rush helped them greatly today. He destroyed his almost perfect accuracy level by admitting guilt and apologizing for being wrong. I love Rush... and if you care to go back through my 44,000 posts, you will find no FReeper any more supportive of Rush than me.

I am sick and tired of our side apologizing. Franklin Graham apologized two weeks ago for saying that islam is at War with Christianity... that the koran is clear on what it demands of it's followers and that terrorists only carry out what their book tells them to do. He caved... Rush caved... they both lost... they both are diminished because of it.

If you are correct or I am correct... it does not matter... you got that dead on. Neither man can take back their apology and neither man lied about what they said... and the damage has been done... to them and to us.

Things are so bad that I am now convinced that the gop/e prefers to lose the coming election in all three arenas.

Rush apologized saying he shouldn’t have made personal attacks. That is one thing.

Graham is a member of the clergy. On Christianity he can run circles around anyone on the field when it comes to Christianity and Islam. No one in the media could have successfully taken him on and destroyed him or his work because he has the Word of God on his side. He shouldn’t have budged. He should have stood his ground and defended his faith. It’s a tragedy for all of us that he didn’t.

I don’t have much faith in the GOP to do anything this year. I think they have sold us down the river. They prefer to protect their own hides and not take on the Democrats than to fight for our Constitutional rights. We are in big trouble. I completely agree with you, there.

I am hopeful that Cardinal Dolan will fight for freedom of religion in this nation. I pray that God will help him.

I miss Glenn Beck's show on FNC. There were some episodes where he would play clips of Dems contradicting themselves in a double window with him and he would make the funniest gestures and faces and comments while they talked and it really was hilarious. Or he would show graphs of money supply over the past 100+ years, or house prices adjusted for inflation showing what a mess the government is making.
And Beck then was boycotted and got booted from FNC largely for comments he made about Obama. I only watch a few on FNC now, Cavuto, Brett Baur and sometimes Megyn Kelly,

Beck in many of these TV episodes reminded me of Rush's TV show which started 19+ years ago, in my view it was a classic even though there was little market for it on syndicated broadcast TV at the time. His TV was much different than his radio show, he kept it moving with constant political comedy and ridicule of Democrats, No BS

I really liked Beck in the beginning.

I had started listening to him on the radio after September 11th. He had a sense of humor, he knew his limitations and his ego was in check. I did learn from him for years and I miss who I remember that he was.

We went to his “Rally for America” event in Atlanta in 2003. It was good.

By the time of his “Restoring Honor” rally I was growing a little concerned, though. I didn’t follow him to GBTV because I think he has been marginalized and his radio program is insufferable, now. I refuse to listen to it.

I don’t recognize him anymore.

Carbonite may have shot themselves in the foot and not yet realized it.

You no more need Carbonite to backup and preserve your computer files than you need hamburger to make an apple pie.

Rush's salesmanship ship has convinced an awful lot of people to use the Carbonite system when there are several BETTER backup systems and simpler methods than what Carbonite offers.

Anyone who knows about digital file preservation knows that carbonite is NOT the smartest way to go. Really.

Whether or not Fluke was asking for cash for herself is irrelevant to the question of whether or not she is a slut.

Given sponsors' reactions, Rush would have been well advised to use a less harsh word, such as "promiscuous," to describe Ms. Fluke. However, "slut" is, IMHO, a perfectly accurate description of a woman with the lifestyle self-described by Fluke. Rush did not distort her "testimony."
