During the Clinton years we were subjected to the objectionable concept that women were to be treated like sluts. The media and the White House orchestrated it that way. They demonized Jennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky as sluts. At the time, Rush went after them for doing this because he thought that their treatment of these women was reprehensible. We had a predator in the White House who had diminished the discourse down to the gutter level.

By calling Fluke a slut, Rush has reduced himself to their level. He pulled the conversation away from the fact that Obamacare has trampled on religious liberty and instead directed a personal attack at another. He played by the Left’s rules. And he lost on the moral argument because he pulled the attention away from the issue at hand and made it about his use of language.

Most right-thinking people would tell two children NOT to call each other names because it isn’t the kind thing to do. When the discussion is reduced to name calling no one pays attention to facts anymore, they only listen to the emotions between the two parties. Rush made this personal when he attacked her using the word “slut”. He dropped the main theme of the argument and lost, big time.

The fact that you still think this is about capitulation doesn’t matter. What matters is the perception. The perception is Rush is a bastard and the reaction was swift and painful, so the media won this round.

Thus, he apologized.

The media revels whenever Conservatives act like the heartless bastards that the media accuses Conservatives of being. He walked into a trap and lost. He only has himself to blame. And he apologized, fixing the error.

I believe he is contrite.

Let’s return to the true issue of the attack against religious liberty.

We just see things differently. The left, THEIR media and at least 45% of Americans hate us... they hate Rush and will not stop until they destroy us all. Rush helped them greatly today. He destroyed his almost perfect accuracy level by admitting guilt and apologizing for being wrong. I love Rush... and if you care to go back through my 44,000 posts, you will find no FReeper any more supportive of Rush than me.

I am sick and tired of our side apologizing. Franklin Graham apologized two weeks ago for saying that islam is at War with Christianity... that the koran is clear on what it demands of it's followers and that terrorists only carry out what their book tells them to do. He caved... Rush caved... they both lost... they both are diminished because of it.

If you are correct or I am correct... it does not matter... you got that dead on. Neither man can take back their apology and neither man lied about what they said... and the damage has been done... to them and to us.

Things are so bad that I am now convinced that the gop/e prefers to lose the coming election in all three arenas.

I miss Glenn Beck's show on FNC. There were some episodes where he would play clips of Dems contradicting themselves in a double window with him and he would make the funniest gestures and faces and comments while they talked and it really was hilarious. Or he would show graphs of money supply over the past 100+ years, or house prices adjusted for inflation showing what a mess the government is making.
And Beck then was boycotted and got booted from FNC largely for comments he made about Obama. I only watch a few on FNC now, Cavuto, Brett Baur and sometimes Megyn Kelly,

Beck in many of these TV episodes reminded me of Rush's TV show which started 19+ years ago, in my view it was a classic even though there was little market for it on syndicated broadcast TV at the time. His TV was much different than his radio show, he kept it moving with constant political comedy and ridicule of Democrats, No BS
