For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

“Unless he can document how his “apology” was a ruse to help Jack Baur foil nucular (sic) terrorism, I have no more use for him.”

He had to know how this apology (read: cave) was going to come across. He showed weakness, and accepted the Dems premise by going on defense! He always condemns the Republicans in Congress for this!
The Left must be hysterical tonight...they know they have the power to even make Rush cave! This is sad and disgusting beyond what I'm capable of expressing.

I completely agree.
This was not a “ mistake.”
This was betrayal.
To: papertyger
Rush conceded that by apologizing. I'm willing to see how this plays out and give him the benefit of the doubt.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the bomb threat at his home on Thursday?
If Rush truly did cave on this, I wonder what it took?
Something tells me it was more than just a few advertisers pulling out.

I just toured around some of the lib sites. It's full steam ahead on contacting the rest of his sponsors. Carbonite being the latest to drop him. They are also targeting the radio stations. Petitions are up and running. They are calling for this woman to take him to court, she will have plenty of money behind her....*sigh*.

I thought the same thing ... that Rush was deliberately placing himnself in enemy fire to keep the GOP candidates safe ...
However, I since changed that idea to a simple "Rush Limbaugh is a gutless coward" ...
I predict his ratings will nose dive ... and he knew THIS in advance ...
So why did he do it in the first place ?
Protect Willard and Little Ricky from fragging themselves in public ...

As another poster noted (paraphrasing): We can no longer condemn the advertisers who decided not to advertise on his show, since rush himself admitted he was wrong on what he said! Basically, El Rushbo’s apology (read: cave) confirmed that his sponsors were correct in leaving him, while at the same time making those who wrote letters of condemnation to these sponsors look like abject fools!
Thanks Rush...for nothing!

We're all trying to make an honest buck and Rush Limbaugh has certainly excelled in that regard. Plus, he's created a number of jobs with his wealth.
Remember the line of men's ties that Rush marketed about 15 years ago? I bought a couple because they were different not because I needed two more ties.
At that time our parish priest was a democrat. He and I could trade remarks about politics without getting into a shouting match. Rush's name came up a time or two.
Of course when Rush put his ties on the market I had to buy a couple because they were distinctive to say the least. I don't recall the year, but it was shortly before Christmas when I purchased them.
It came time to dress for midnight mass on Christmas Eve. There was no question about it I would wear one of Rush's ties. I picked the tie that carried the name Stained Glass, it was the more conservative of the two.
I walked in the door of the church with my overcoat open so the tie could be seen. Father spotted it and recognized it within the blink of eye. The look on his face....priceless !
Before Mass I had the chance to look around and what do I see? Four other men wearing Rush's ties. That added to the joy of that particular Christmas.
Father retired years ago, but I still wear Stained Glass by Rush to midnight mass on Christmas Eve without fail. It has become a tradition with me.
The moral of my story is that Rush created jobs when he came out of with his line of men's ties. Capitalists do that sort of thing quite well.

Rush is 60 years old, has a lovely new bride, enough money to never have to work another day in his life. He doesnt put all his time and effort into his show because he needs the gig, he does it because he cares passionately about what he does. NOBODY bats 1,000 - he speaks off the cuff, 3 hours a day, 5-days a week. Occasionally youre going to say something you probably would have written differently given the luxury of time and editing, but he took this as far as he could as long as he could before just having to cut his losses and let it pass. More than the corporate advertisers, I think his move was spurred more by the fact that this has become too much of a lightning rod distraction leading up to this do-or-die winner takes all election.
Good one. This episode has certainly developed into a shibboleth to cut the Rush haters, both those of the left and (supposedly) the right, from the herd.

LegalZoom Since one of the founders of that company is Robert Shaprio, part of the O.J. Simpson legal defense "Dream Team", I've always avoided their service. I would like to see Robert Shapiro in a commercial stating "To more accurately reflect our new business direction LegalZoom is now "LegalCrashandBurn".

'm willing to see how this plays out and give him the benefit of the doubt.I understand. But there IS no doubt. You just haven't got there yet.
No one would be happier than me to be wrong. But when it walks, talks, and swims like a duck...it's a GD duck regardless of it's past history.
To: Artcore
Sorry, but Rush did what he always chastises the Republicans of doing: Accepting the Liberal premise and going on defense. He can spin this any way he wants on Monday; he accepted the Dems premise and he caved!
No, he didn't. And I see your analysis of this is as thoroughly defective as your analysis on most everything else.

I think that was the "best" post I've read about this dismal situation ...
Just great ...
Fortunately, Rush already knows the truth of your words ... simply because they are "truth" ...
Rush KNOWS that he is now "owned" ... does he get up and FIGHT for his freedom ?
Film at Eleven ...
P.S. We are "already" fighting the Second American Civil War ... this phase is purely economic ... with media frenzy propaganda thrown in ...

El Rushbo accepted the Dems premise and caved. The Left now taste blood and will not stop.
This was a supremely stupid move by Rush! It had the following consequences:
1) Emboldened the Dems even more
2) Made the work of other talk radio hosts that much harder
3) Alienated a good portion of his listening audience.
It is laughable watching some here make excuses for Rush. Actually, it's downright sad.

Why do you think it is appropriate to sink to name-calling instead of dealing with the debate with a more fact-based approach? She's bragging about her sin while at the same time trying to self-righteously demand that *we* pay for it.
The problem is, if anyone other than her should pay for her contraception, it would be whoever is banging her that night. WE aren't the ones who might get her pregnant.
In fact, one could argue that by paying for her contraception, we are gaining an easement.
Cheers!
