For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
Congratulations! I’m glad it worked for you! Mine will be 21 in June.
I have no way of determining the truth of that.
However, I have noticed that it is in the Left’s DNA to find a case like this and extrapolate it to a capital crime that all of society is guilty of. That, she was clearly doing.
I don't think the word exists in their playbook.
The point is we should be willing to use the same tactics the left does against advertisers only in our case calling and voicing our disdain for pulling their advertising.
Rush for the most part has been fighting this alone and has been our voice for over twenty years, this is a war that must be fought standing together or we'll never win.
He deserves our support, not derision.
We are so ****ed in this country. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(
Your right!
People call advertisers to complain. We had no complaint.
If Rush had asked for our help to fend off an AstroTurf assault, we would have had a complaint.
He didn't do that....
Now we have a bigger complaint with Rush than with his advertisers.
I'm not too busy to call advertisers, but I'm damn sure not going to spend my time helping a rich guy that doesn't even ask for help.
How many listeners do YOU have?
Mine will be 18 on Dec 29th.
I can’t wait...
he confirmed his passion to himself and the almighty dollar.
*********
So his passion to himself and the almighty dollar was okay as long as you agreed with what he was saying?
Like I said....last time I had a conversation like this one (just today, in fact)....
it was with a typical damned leftie.
I’ll let you have the last spew....lol!
When are we going to go after Bill Maher, Ed Schultz and Keith Olberman? Why do they get off the hook?
Those hacks can’t hold a candle to Rush. Do you think Sarah would even answer the phone if one of them were calling her?? Sarah didn’t mind, she just considered the source—a few low lifes.
You totally nailed it here. They should have laughed in Snuffalffagus face, asked "next" and stayed on the relevant topics. A junior high school civics student can see the only way out for the left is to distract voters away from Nero's abysmal performance. Party of Stupid indeed.
O'l Susan has given us a new way to express ourselves in polite fashion....just like Monica did.
Rush will get support from me because I won't buy a damn thing from any sponsor who dropped him but it's stupid to pretend he didn't dive head first into the age old left wing trap. I mean there was no reason to call the girl a slut when Rush doesn't know her from Adam. At the same time he had every right and reason to call her a damn gimmegirl or a moocher or a pro abortionist.
Rush screwed the pooch here and got played. And now he has had to grovel to pay for it. He's smarter than that but it isn't about RUsh, it's about the left crapping on the free exercise clause and if he doesn't pound that home he's lost a listener though I still won't buy a damn thing from any sponsor that dropped him.
No, he DID deserve our support!
NOW, he deserves our derision.
If he would have waited till Monday to tell us he was under a coordinated attack, and which advertisers and affiliates were getting wobbly, I’d have been the first on the phone.
That’s not what he did.
Now everyone who supported him prior to his apology has to eat crow for doing so.
EXACTLY!!!!
Anyways..it is true...the Church is not opposed to using the pill for medicinal purposes.
Therefore...she couldn’t have had a friend who was denied coverage “solely” for this reason.
Whether her “friend” had some other issue....we don’t know.
BTTT!!!!
My first reaction was that this whole thing had not played out yet, and on Monday, Rush would give an update, and expand on his argument. There was plenty of ammunition for him to use to prove his point.
More ammunition was given to him by Obama’s phone call, and by the hysterics on the Left.
I expected he would use what happened as a teachable moment in the tactics of the Left, as this was obviously a set-up by the Dems.
Why would I think that?
Because Rush is 61, and a multimillionaire. Clear Channel knows exactly what they are paying for, and the advertisers know who Rush is, what he does, and what he can do for them.
So what does Rush have to fear? He doesn’t have to work.
Of all the things Rush has said in 22 plus years, THIS is the one thing that crossed the Rubicon? That’s absurd.
Besides, think about it—without a clearly co-ordinated strategy, just how many complaints about Rush “deluged” these advertisers and Clear Channel? How many leftists you know are so motivated to complain that they will actually get off their rear end and DO something—on a weekend, no less. Advertisers are ready to dump because of Facebook and Twitter wars? Oh,please. They knew what they were advertising on.
So, a few advertisers complain and want to leave.
Fair weather friends and good riddance. The Lefties don’t even have the money to buy their products, so who is kidding whom? A huge boycott by Rush listeners would have put them under.
Here is what is at stake—for Rush and for us.
Bottom line is if Obama gets another four years, Rush is off the air, and we are off to the camps.
No, I am not kidding. Because we are on a collision course with the Obama Administration and the Left, and they will make criminals of all of us, just for standing for the rule of law, the Constitution, the Bible and for truth.
With Rush’s apology, the template has now been pressed. If he gets out of line again, the same playbook is engaged, and Rush apologizes.
Some things, like freedom, are more important than even the EIB microphone.
And Rush will have to finally face that unpleasant fact. And soon.
America will change irrevocably after November 6th if
Obama is re-elected.
Andrew Brietbart understood this, and risked everything, including his health, for America.
Rush can talk, but soon, that will not be enough.
Rush has options—many of them. He can go internet feed by fee; he can go satellite with Sirius; he can become a commentator or speaker—in all those things he could succeed and make a fortune.
He uses a patriotic Rush in a tricorner hat on his tea label.Well, he needs to be that patriot. And risk something.
He was hired by ESPN and publicly humiliated for a truthful comment. The NFL humiliated him by refusing him to buy into a team. He took all that and went back behind the EIB microphone. At some point, he will have to fight back. We will all have to fight back.
We have eight months left. The time for “entertainment” is over. The Left is merciless and relentless— they are coming after all Americans who are “bitter clingers”.
Rush can play games or he can help save the country—his choice.
I will listen on Monday. But if he doesn’t get that he has been Alinskyed and will continue to be Alinkysed if he doesn’t do more to help America survive hope and change,
I won’t need to tune in anymore.
We need a Paul Revere, not a Don Rickles. We need an Andrew Breitbart, not a Walter Mitty.
And Rush, if you have no intention of being nothing but an entertainer at such a critical time, we’ll just move on.
May your chains rest lightly upon you.
Before coming onto FreeRepublic earlier, I mistakenly clicked on Rush's site in my “Favorites” folder. Before clicking out I noticed his statement dated today. My first thought was: “You've got to be kidding me...Rush is caving on this?!?!” Sorry, but if reading his statement/apology caused me sadness and bewilderment; it had the polar opposite effect on liberals. They have to be laughing their asses off at us right now.
Rush did what he always condemns the Republicans of doing: ACCEPTING THE DEMS PREMISE AND GOING ON DEFENSE! How many times have I heard Rush say “nothing is ever won by being on defense.”
You folks who want to make excuses for Rush, you go right ahead. This apology has confirmed to the Dems that they can even beat Rush. I still cannot believed Rush caved!
